I think this is going to the trade deadline. So I would personally say less than 20% chance this is done in a week. Only thing that could push Denver is if Minnesota (or the Knicks) really puts a hard deadline on them of "Do this deal next week or never" and they do feel the urgency to get something for Melo. We don't know when the Nuggets will start to panic and say 'We better pull the trigger.'

The Nets thing *may* have been a complete fake deal. So it may not be fair to judge that deal as a barometer of what will happen with the Knicks.

Still, I do not think it is at all likely that a deal gets done next week. But Broussard is not saying that either. He's saying 'the earliest it could get done is middle of next week.' Different things.

Broussard has poor knowledge of the game and he seemed to be very anti-Knicks getting lebron last summer. But I don't think his sources are non-existent or that he's making stuff up completely. There is I'm sure some credibility to this story. How much, who knows.

I don't trust Broussard or the Nuggets enough to start feeling good about this deal BUT I'm telling you: A very underrated thing in all of this is that once this story gets out there, as it has, Melo will grow more resolved to get to MSG.

We already know that his agent is now telling teams it's the Knicks only that he wants. Well once this story circulates, the momentum of Melo to the Knicks could become irreversible.

For the most part, Melo has been a very good soldier throughout this. Kept his mouth shut, played hard, played to win. Rightly or wrongly, I think Melo *expects* to be traded to the Knicks and feels he has earned it. Once it appears close, if the Nuggets want to play chicken with him and sink the Knicks deal, I think Melo will be more than happy to win the game of chicken and go to the summer and sign.

Again, once the rumors of him about to go to the Knicks start flying, and they have now, I think it could be very hard to go backwards and go in another direction for Denver.

KG, Broussard was just on ESPN when they broke the new Carmelo trade talks, they had Broussard on the phone, every word out of his mouth, and the tone, suggested the guy was completely bummed about the news, and seemed to me that he hated reporting it, which gave me the immediate sense that this thing has legs. Broussard would hate a Melo to Knick trade of any kind, there is no question.

Maybe he was tired of all the Superbowl partying he is doing, but I didn't hear any background noise, and it's early in the night over there...

I doubt the Nugz trade him as long at they are in solid playoff contention. Playoffs equal way too much money for the potential inevitable loss they'll receive.
