Raptors Vs Nets in London

Post#1 » by DoctorS » Sun Feb 6, 2011 12:51 am

We all know that Raptors will play the Nets on 4th and 5th in London. But what I didn't know is that Nets are hosting both games while the other two games of the season series are being played in Toronto. Does anyone know why are two games in London not a split?

Nets wanted this, we all know Prokhorov said he wants to turn this into a global franchise. What better way then host games overseas as the home team. Yormark said if the NBA wants to have games overseas the Nets will have no problem volunteering themselves. They're trying to sell the Nets brand internationally, I could see this becoming a tradition for the Nets. Hosting a game or two in Europe or in Russian every season.

So it was their initiative to host both games?
Would games would have been played if Nets declined to host both?

If I recall correctly the Nets were fine with having both games count as a home game. Not sure about your second question but I'm sure the NBA could of found another team that would of been willing to sacrifice a home game to play in London. Maybe a team like the Hornets who struggle with attendance.

Now you guys are even with the Clippers, who play their two home games against the Lakers at the Lakers, if that makes any sense.

Well, you can't really say at the Lakers. They both share the same stadium although (as you were probably attempting to imply) the Lakers have more fans that would come to the game than the Clippers. But hey, what can you do?

It prob. has something to do with the home team getting a bigger part of gate. Not many
people would come see the Nets host the Raps. It's all about the money.
