The Rebel isn't going to like all these new Melo to NY rumors. But at least the Denver board will get some more activity.

Time to bring in Lawrence Frank. He coached Vince, RJ, Kidd to success. He is a defensive coach. He can make it work.

Yes, I'm going to be repeating Lawrence Frank's name often. I think he's the ideal fit for Melo-Amar'e team and you know he won't stick Amar'e at center. We'll be seeing Mozgov man the middle.

What specifically do you like about Lawrence Frank's coaching that convinces you he is the right person to lead the Knicks to their first championship since 1973?

nah kg, that's way too much for curry. we gotta shoot for more with that package if this deal happens.

I love Curry -- the jumper, really smart player, crafty with his drives. He and Fields would be the smarts of that team. Then we would have a potentially dominating frontcourt. Smart backcourt, big and dominant bigs = win.

Knicks, Nuggets, Twolves discussing 3-team trade. Melo to NYK; Chandler, Corey Brewer, Minny 1st rnd pick to Den; ECurry, ARandolph to Minny

Oh boy, this is getting good.... A specific deal? - .. where there's smoke..

Only having to give up AR and Chandler? That would be pretty huge, AR would be coming through/being put to use in a big way... As much as I love Chandler and would feel bad seeing him go, holding onto Gallo and Fields would be pretty big...

Say that were to go down... what would our starting line be? Gallo coming off the bench orrr?

Felton
Fields
Melo
Amare
Moz

more likely would probably be

Felton
Fields
Gallo
Melo
Amare

though right

Lawrence Frank
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lawrence Frank (born August 23, 1970, in New York City) is an American basketball coach. He is currently an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics. He formerly served as the head coach of the NBA's New Jersey Nets.

Born to a Jewish family in New York City, New York and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Frank graduated from Teaneck High School, but never made the school's basketball team.[1] He played for a Jewish Community Center team and was also a player-coach for a Catholic Youth Organization team.[2]

At the very least the GArden is going to rock like it hasn't rocked in years. Teams will not want to play a team with MElo,Amar'e and Gallinari.... And we have a draft pick next year, 2 2nd rounders. It'll be nice.

We need more than 5 players. No thanks on that trade.

If we are talking about coaches the one name I like is Kelvin Sampson.. He is going to be a good NBA coach very soon.

Opie versus Richie Cunninham.

I'd rather wait for Phil Jackson.

If this trade happens as listed, and I pray pray pray it does, then the priorities are

1st a center who can rebound and defend
2nd a backup point who can make plays
3rd a backup shooting guard who can either defend or create his own shot

I'd target sessions, nene, verajao (for the future obviously), bogut, kamen, dalembert, Watson, ford and Fernandez

Pharmcat preaches defense.

The Knicks should fire D'Antoni now

&

hire Pharmcat.

That would solve our problems.

mpharris36 wrote:I never said chandler would replace carmelo's production but from denver point of view it gives them options. They get a chandler, brewer, and a 1st round pick. That gives them options. Chandler is not in the position in the league to demand where he wants to play. He is a young player that is going to be a restricted FA. The team that pays him gets him.

Denver would try to make the playoffs with billups, nene, and chandler. Have a young brewer come off the bench and have a pretty high draft pick for the future.

The question is about Minni they obviously are very high on AR and the curry contract is very attractive to them because it's expiring.

Brewer is RFA I doubt Denver is trying to lock up two small forwards(Chan and Brewer) going forward when they already have Afflalo and Frobes who are certainly better financial options than both. Brewer is not even a sure starter in this league. The point I'm making Denver can solidify playoffs this season(could make a trade to do so at the deadline) while almost getting the same value in return if they deal Melo to us in the summer.

Agreed about Minny's situation, they may value the pick more on draft day even on a trade. Matter of fact considering the SCRUBio situation I doubt they're ready to move their pick but maybe other firsts they possess.

Get Melo
Get rid of all those AR b*tching threads

Just wait until Melo & Amare start taking a combined 40 shots a game

while eating up 90% of the salary cap

and the Knicks are still mediocre.

Then what?

1. Hire Lawrence Frank
2. Play Mozgov and Turiaf all the minutes at center
3. Put Amar'e and Melo on opposite sides at all times
4. Make sure one of Melo OR Amar'e is in the game for at least 42-45 minutes a night

That'll be good for 50 wins easy. And then if it clicks, you should be able to compete with the cHeat to some degree. Probably better than the Bulls IF you play defense and get some decent play from Felton.

Understood but the cap argument still holds. The biggest problem with this trade for me is absorbing that ridiculous extension price. We can save ourselves alot of scratch just waiting it out via FA, perhaps even less pending on the new CBA. The season is already more than half over. I dont understand why jump the gun now and outbid ourselves for a player clearly a star, but just as clearly not worth that kidn of $$.

Coaching is about defense and defense is about coaching. Those Nets teams played defense and executed well. I always thought he was a guy who was a workaholic, like JVG, paid attention to detail which is a must (our coach does not), and had a good demeanor. Works hard, keeps his cool during games. The Anti-D'Antoni.

Give me Frank. He's already shown he can manage superstars. He's young, would be relatively cheap, and has handled the NY market. NY kid too -- didn't know that part.

Plus Thorn liked him enough to hire him at a very young age. That's good enough for me. Thorn is a brilliant basketball person. What's not to like?

Plus we know Walsh likes him and is friendly with him. Give me Frank.

I hope this doesn't sound dumb but can we somehow also get Nene from Denver as well? ._.

i like steph's game, but I'd much rather gun for a stud wing defender or a young player with the potential to be a stud wing defender. we need great defense at the perimeter if we want to compete with miami's wings. i don't think steph has that in him. Wall is out of the question but someone like that would be my ideal get if we're going to deal felton and gallo.

Frank is a guy I know well but I'm up for another young & smart, defensive-minded coach too and this guy or the Spurs assistant are two other people I've heard mentioned. I think the Knicks would want someone who has NBA experience though, and that's Lawrence.

Return to New York Knicks
