im taking my dad to that game for his bday. dont think anything will happen by that point. plus with all the physicals and the like.

it'd be nice but if/when a trade occurs, i highly doubt anything earlier than the deadline itself. denver has been waffling so much, i doubt they make up their minds in the next couple of days

Or he can lose him for nothing during free agency.

Chandler + corey brewer is basically nothing

Chandler, Brewer, #1Pick/Picks and 20 Mill savings............vs..............Nothing............

what would you do ?

20 Mill is significant no matter what his parents are worth. The Business at hand being the DEN Nuggets is not worth Billions. And as a business thats going to be losing its franchise player and probably have to report a loss for the 2011-12 season, could always use the cash and the cash relief. Billionaires still like their company's to produce profits or minimize losses at any costs.

with that said, I think the deal is going to cost us more then what the reports are telling us.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

20 mil is far from nothing. Billionaires do not throw millions away just because. That's not how wealth works. You're comparing a lottery winner's mentality to a legitimate business man's mentality. Two totally different animals. They have made penny pinching moves in the past and will make the prudent decision this time.

I just saw in a thread some people calling this a bad move for us because they don't want to give up Chandler.

Oh jeez, excuse me while I bash my face through my wall.

From a business mans perspective what is 20 million when you will lose ticket sales, jersey sales, you will also lose face.

One of the reasons that Melo wants to leave is because he doesn't believe that Denver ownership is willing to spend. I showed you an example in the Camby deal. In addition, the rumor is that the first Nyets-Denver trade was aborted because Denver wasn't getting any financial savings. There was also an interesting article, posted on the Denver board, about how Kroenke is running his hockey team by having one star and keeping other salaries low and that's how he may want to run the Nuggets. While the Kroenkes are wealthy, do not confuse being wealthy with a willingness to spend that wealth.

Let me get this straight, to get Melo, all we have to do is get rid of Curry, Randolph and Chandler plus what Minnesota is giving up....?

The next time Chandler sits out with flu-like symptoms, this board will go nuts lol.

Those things are gone no matter what, because Melo is gone soon.

I also want to add, do not confuse wealth with liquidity. He is wealthy because his investments are worth a lot of money, does not mean that he has access to cash worth that much money. Maybe he wants cash for other investments and this is a good way to get said cash withouth having to borrow.

As mentioned above, just 2 years ago, these same billionaires gave up Marcus Camby for the right to swap 2nd rounders. They gave up a player who had, in the past year, played 79 games and averaged 9.1 points, 13.1 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 3.3 assists for cash savings only. The vice president of basketball operations and the GM at the time: Mark Warkentien.

Oh ok....Sounds like Denver is coming to grips about losing him and is willing to just get anything for him...

He is still a superstar, they are just saving him. They got ultimate chemistry and that takes years and years to develop. They have their core of Parker/Ginobili/Duncan for years now and those are three all stars, plain and simple...

In most instances, the rich get rich by being smart businessmen or investors. The Jimmy Dolans of the world are the exception.

Season tickets are already sold, they put Melo jerseys on sale weeks ago (and what Nugget Fan is buying them now anyway?).

Minny is 13.3 million under the cap- just to be accurate people.

The Nuggets have 14 more home games left as of today. As of 2/24- (including the 24th) they will have 10 games left. Ask yourself how much does 10 games in revenue translate to?
Plus 5 home play-off games if you are being optimistic and believe they will make it to the 2nd round?

I doubt anything close to 20 million...
