OT: Superbowl Breakdown

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Sat Feb 5, 2011 8:08 pm

Since none of you asked, here's my SB breakdown...

INITIAL THOUGHTS: Most are betting GB to win, betting with their hearts not their brain it appears, sure Steelers are only beloved by their own fans, the big bully, nobody wants Rapisberger to win, but they are the best team in football. I watch these smelly Steelers only less than my Ravens, because I want them to lose so bad, but they just find a way to win, every damn' time. Rapisberger was suspended the first 4 games and they came out of that 3-1 with a 2nd and 3rd string qb's, only losing barely to my Ravens in that one loss.

STEELERS PLUSES:
***The best defense (#1 or #2 doesn't matter, when you have the personnel and the best D Coordnator in the game, maybe of all time, you're the best.)
***An excellent coach, only time I've seen him flinch is when my Ravens were up 21-7, they still beat our azz.
***The #1 D coordnator < the true superstar of Pitts, Dick LeBeau
***The best strong saftey of all time, gamebreaker, just all over the field with an extra week of rest and one less game that they had to play.
***Good hard running game. Then they throw deep on a play action pass with maybe the best deep ball and 2nd fastest WR in the NFL in Mike Wallace, it's tough to stop. They don't have a great middle game, but it's so hard to stop the hardnosed running style and stop that deep pass that they do better than anybody.
***The best defense against the run
***Two MFM (mofo monter) linebackers in Woodley and Harrison, just straight up BEASTS
***toughest team in the nfl
***best closing qb in the nfl
***Ben can pump fake all day long numerous times, because his hands are enourmous, that's is so frustrating to a defense
***2 blazing fast wide receivers
***Ben throws a great, accurate deep ball
***Recent SB experience
***Another thing that favors Pitts HUGE is the breaks: halftime, and the long commercial breaks it's def not a regularly paced game.

GBAY PLUSES:
The most talented qb in the NFL, 2nd best defense, great corners, hottest team in football, BJ Raji vs. Rookie Center that's big, Matthews pass rush; That's all I can see.

FINAL ANALYSIS: (1-5)
1. GB is favored by 3? Pitts win is going to make a lot of people cry. I'd put $100 on this game if I knew a bookie. I'd put more, but I'm broke.
2. I think my Ravens are the best sports organization in all of National Sports top to bottom, but they can't get over the Smelly Steelers in their own division, they regularly punk my Ravens. The Ravens focus is on beating Pitts on paper.
3. They've said this in their meetings, paraphrasing... They know the Steelers are the best team in football they try to beat them on paper every year. Everywhere else it's a brilliant QB that gets a team over, you can't beat that on paper, that's why the Steelers are their focus as well they routinely win the AFC North.
4. Steelers get 3 points is hilarious, they're better, is nearly a guarantee in my book, free money.
5. That 3 point spread is to even the money, because everybody is betting the slick A Rog, smooth QB with a smile, somebody different, betting with their heart, Packers. Smart money is on the Steelers IMO.

GB is favored? Everyone I've talked to (here in Cali and from all over online) thinks the Steelers will win, but except for Steelers fans, everyone is rooting for GB.

Yep. Steelers are 3 point underdogs in this one. I have a question though. Why is it that alot of Steeler fans are coincidentally Laker fans? Seems like almost everyone on this board except Dub is a passionate Steeler fan (including myself).

Great topic. There's really only one area of concern for the Steelers. Packers Def. line vs. Steelers Off. line. Arians has to find a way to protect Ben long enough with that depleted line or it's going its not going to look good. Something's telling me that either Ike Taylor or William Gay is going to have a huge INT, or long hair dont care Polamalu is going to make momentum changing play. Either way Steelers win 27-23

Well Dub knows I'm a long time Steeler fan, since the days of Swan and Bradshaw. When that line came out the first thing I said is Vegas doesn't want to lose money. They know damn well the Steelers are the better team, most experienced and have done this more recently than the Packers.

The key to the game will be who can exert a running attack, they say the game being on a fast track favors Green Bay. But Rashard is just as fast on that than any GB running back. Finally defense will be the tell all story. I think the Steelers just have too many "out for blood" defensive guys. But we will win this game no matter what.

I'm favoring the Steelers. If the Steelers gets on a roll, it'll be very difficult to comeback.

Crazy , Crazy Game Today!

Im up at 7:30 heading out to Walmart and Costco(when it opens up in 3 hours) with my Lady to get ready for this special occasion. We got the Super Bowl Parlay at our Pad this year.

Seems like majority of the RGM Lakersnation favoring the Steelers to take it home.

I really want the Black and Yellow to bring home #7 but lets all not beat around the bush.
A. Rodge and those Goon Bay Packs are on Fire as well.
It's definitely gonna be a dogfight!

The Steelers and Packers are two of the greatest franchises in NFL history. But I have to give the edge to the Steelers. Grant it, the Packers have been winning on the road and certainly seem to be the hottest team right now.

Not only do the Steelers have the better defense. They also have a quarterback (Big Ben) who has all of the intangibles and seems to make the huge plays when his team needs it the most, and a wide receiver (Ward) who isn't shy about blocking down field.

The Terrible Towels will be out in full force... where will the Cheese Heads be?

Steelers 17, Packers 10

Steelers go ahead early, Arog spreads it out and makes a comeback, falling just short.

Impress the ladies today with these fun facts ;):

The Green Bay Packers were founded on August 11, 1919[5] by former high-school football rivals Earl "Curly" Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun.[6] Lambeau solicited funds for uniforms from his employer, the Indian Packing Company. He was given $500 for uniforms and equipment, on the condition that the team be named for its sponsor. Today "Green Bay Packers" is the oldest team-name still in use in the NFL, both by its nickname and by virtue of remaining in its original city.

The "G" on the helmets stands for "Greatness"

Keep on "hate'in" on the Steelers............you only hate because your team can't duplicate what mine has.

Prestige and greatness.

You Packer lovers better pray James Harrison don't knock Rodgers out, cause who the hell is his back up ?

We never got that big play on defense, that is not us. And we rarely turn the ball over and tonight we did it 3 times.
