What are you smoking?
If your argument is we should him in summer, well, Curry and Chandler would both not be resigned, so essentially, we're giving up Anthony Randolph to get Carmelo early. Benefits include:
1) Having Melo for the remainder of the 2011 season. This counts for something.
2) Assuming there is some form of MLE, well, we will retain the right to sign another player in the summer.
If your argument is "he doesnt play defense", than, I wanna hear who you WOULD get... and I also want you to consider that our current window is directly tied to Amare Stoudemire, who at age 28, i would say has about 4-5 years of prime game left in him.
I get stupider everyday listening to some feeble minded fans saying "hes a one way player", "hes a ball stopper" blah blah... paul pierce was a ball stopper too before he got some elite talent next to him, and now hes a sure fire hall of famer.
And "rebuilding the right way" is a stupid cliche, whoever says that just listens to too much talking head on TV. Someone made graet points.... look at the contenders today... Heat (built through free agency), Boston (built through trades), Lakers (besides Kobe, built through trades). Only SPurs fit that "right way" mold, and the reason they have been so great is b/c they stepped in sh*t and drafted a top 10 player of all time in Tim Duncan
Yeah pretty much. It's one thing to not want to trade everyone to get Melo, it's quite another if WT is true and that that package would do. If that was enough you do it NOW.
