Because he's making reasonable money?

He's signed for another 4 years and he's not a game changer. They would love to get out from under that contract. If they hope to be a contender again in the future, they have to do what Donnie did. Get out from under the long term commitments to mediocre talent and get to a place where they can actually add an elite talent. No team should strive to be an 8th seed.

You bet. If physical ability were everything, Al coulda been a contender. Instead he's just a disappointment. But the right coach might still be able to get through to him. But D'Antoni ain't the right coach...

I do not want to see Harrington, Walker and Williams on this team together........wow would that be a chuckfest!

Throw in Azu n Rautins and take back Anthony careter and birdman
Move Randle and we are chip ready !

Understandably. But if Denver says that's the price then you have no choice. You figure out how to make it work. Al was willing to take a backup role both in NY and Denver. He chucks but he's always chucked. It's Mike's job to kiss and make up for the better of the team (just like he did with Amare). It's not an option and I refuse to believe Walsh will walk away from a deal to get a second superstar because Mike doesn't know how to deal with Harrington. I don't want Harrington here but that's a poison pill I'd swallow for Melo. If Al acts up, Anthony Randolph his a$$. The $$$ on the contract isn't an issue. Hell D'Antoni has allowed plenty of $$$ to rot on the pine (Marbury/Eddy/Randolph).

So you think D'antoni is going to run (on edit:)Amare and Melo into the ground huh? You don't think he will see Gallo as the second unit scoring option/offensive punch off the bench? How can I even challenge what your saying- we're talking about D'antoni here... Oh lord...

I think we are panicking here people. If Minny does this deal absorbing Curry we won't have to take back AL contract.

It may not be our choice. Denver isn't completely in control, but have some power. If they say "you're taking Al", then we're taking Al.

Not an issue. I tend to bring Bernard's game face and intensity to my participation on this board... :D

Tommy Dee: Via Ny Daily News..."Denver doesn't have much of a choice," said one Knicks source. "Carmelo has told them.... about 6 minutes ago

Mike Fisher: Re Melo, Simply put: 1 major #Nuggets objection to #Mavs - 'We dont want to be haunted by him long-term in West' - is moot in rental about 49 minutes ago

Marc Berman: Source: Knicks may add couple more pieces in Melo Mix with Andy Rautins and Azubuike's expiring contract discussed. http://nyp.st/fE2Fiw about 50 minutes ago

Wiretap saying Wolves don't wanna trade Brewer. Am I missing something? Haven't really seen Brewer that much of late but has his game improved that much? I see him as a guy who could be a good role player on a good team down the line but the Wolves are not at that stage so why would he be holding up a deal?

Whatever happens...please get it done before Friday

Melo with NEW YORK across his chest, Kobe at the Mecca, in Madison Square Garden, on National Television. Pipe dream, but really does it get any better?

What ever will be the deal between NY and DEN...MIN in this scenario gets to little:

MIN is the key with taking Curry, because of huge savings for DEN. I think NY should throw in 2014 first rounder to MIN, than I think this could work.

I think they can get late 1 rounder from top NBA team for Brewer regardless if he is expiring, because on defensive end he could be real help in playoffs for any contender. For instance if Boston offers Daniels+Wafer+1rounder for Brewer would DEN say no. I do not think so.

Cap space,1 rounder(UTA or MEM) for AR,Curry imo is ok. But adding Brewer in it is just a bad trade for MIN.

NY must sweeten the deal to MIN and I do not think Rautins will be enough.

Hey, it may not be... My thinking is this- if Donnie presents the 23 million in savings but no AL and your Denver. The only reason that you trade Melo is because you know we can sign him in the off-season and he already told you from last summer that this is where he's going- do you really walk away from 23 million for 10 homes games, possibly 4 play-off games and a second round exit because we refuse to take that contract back?

If I'm Donnie MAYBE another contract but not Harrington-especially with the D'antoni-Harrington history. I just didn't like his comments in that article that I posted a page or so ago...
