I honestly don't think most people on first listen even know most of the anime punchlines, the back to the future references etc. I think it goes over peoples head for the first few times really. I do agree with you on the fact that people do over hype D-Lor's content and write him off.

Phran right now is probably one of my favorites with Soul Khan, Am Zilla, Ness Lee etc. I still got a lot to catch up, though I question if I ever will. I mean a lot of guys can spit. Two guys I'm keeping an eye on are Troy Brown and Sir Locksley.

TheBluest wrote:Yeah Fresco has to fight through this perception and pick up his output workrate in matches. If you're going to kill time bring the better murderers "killer bars and killer rhymes". That's why I respect Swave so much he's the only one I've seen that does it to perfection. He might wanna hit him for pointers.....lol SK is Top 5 IMO he has almost the full arsenal. Still prefer DBD/RD/Solomon along with the two I just mentioned over pretty much everyone. I just don't see what so many others see in Phran....he's smart/full of energy/entertaining but in so many of his battles he lacks control/sometimes unprepared/goes off line in effort to get back online/not balanced or say consistent with style from round to round....IMO he's like a Vince Carter of battles rapping way too talented to produce some of the results he has.

Yeah, the thing about Fresco is that dude's career is really in it's infancy compared to all these other dudes...and he's already come crazy far. He's yet to put together that standout performance where he's got no filler, bars and punches all pieced together perfectly. Swave is just so clean with his work...he's a monster. Definitely in my top five. He's the cat that probably won't ever get the battles he deserves because all the top tier guys know that he can rip their heads off. If Hollow wasn't his boy, I could see Hollow giving him that look but that's it. T-rex and Goodz won't do it I'm sure. Arsonal might if GT put it together...but he's falling fast.

Sk is my favorite. Your list is all cats that belong in the conversation though for sure. Solomon needs to keep battling dammit. These leagues HAVE to get him the battles he wants. Dude is THE draw right now.

Agree on Phran...He's a monster of the freestyle game for sure. The written format, he's taken some L's that shouldn't happen. I personally like D-Lor head and shoulders above him. Phran and D-Lor are the top notch of the backpacking, nerd rap with bars guys though...That's a small list though to sit atop. I think D-Lor could potentially become a MONSTER though...I really do.

Yeah, a lot of these cats don't give D-Lor a chance. Phran is cool, I like Lor better personally though. SK is a beast. Ness Lee vs DBD is going to be a class, possibly the best two cats at just outswagging and outstyling opponents. Word is Ness Lee went IN. Am Zilla's freestyle ability makes no sense. Troy Brown is nice with it, but he's prone to some underwhelming performances. Dude is a beast in two on two's for sure!

Thesaurus vs Mac Lethal is getting a ton of hype too.

I'm a huge Troy Brown fan. The problem is he delivers punch lines that would go over peoples heads at normal speed. And then he spits them in double time. Still dope though. He had that dope performance against John John. Even though he got robbed big time. Another guy who is dope and doesn't get the respect he deserves is Reverse Live. That guy is the total package. Dope writtens, can free with the best of them, mixes in bother personals and word play. Its ridiculous that he gets jerked the way he does. I'm on my blackberry so can't link it right now but you guys should check his battle against 9DM. He got jobbed by hometown judging, but he clearly demolished him. His best performance in my opinion.

So this was the match TS agreed to on short notice? I can see Mac Lethal Weapon on em

As far as Fresco is concerned I think I could merk him....

Yeah that John John battle was BS! He killed that, and his two on two with Roosevelt was insane.

Respect Live has the worst record for a great battle rapper period. Dude has great performances every time but always ends up blowing it in OT, because GT judges LOOOOVE OT. He shoulda won a lot of his L's in 3.

Quick addition: This is one of my favorite battles big fan of RL and Eurgh...Eurgh's my favorite international battler. Dude handed it to Twist and does great stateside every time.

Just finished it, any Dilla fan will appreciate it. If you never heard of Dilla then this is not for you probably as you will find it boring.

That Chamillionaire song is good...he released a few good songs recently.

BIG Sean's first single off his album was released today! Him and Chris Brown. I like it...I've been listening to him for a while so I've been looking forward to his album for a while.
