5 Million Exemption

Post#1 » by laduane1 » Mon Feb 7, 2011 1:43 am

Are the Lakers going to use the 5 million exemption. Would be nice to use it to add a player to help. Lakers are not using Ebanks, Character, Walton, Smith, Ratliff. That is 5 players on the end of the bench that are only taking up money for nothing. Not sure who is out there. Wish it was someone who could really help. Arron Brooks named pops up some. Not sure what he could do for the lakers, could add some youth and speed. As the Lakers get killed when they play teams with a fast point guard.

That won't change with him, since he doesn't play any D. He could score though

Shannon Brown/TPE for Foye/future 2nd

basically 2 seperate trades

Foye for Exception
than
Brown for future 2nd

Foye is a better play maker and a bit better defender, IMO. I dont know if clipps want out of his contract yet but with Bledsoe emergence and Gordon recent injuries, they might need a brown type SG more so then Foye? :-?

Still hoping for Hinrich, like many have for years... I'd settle for Brooks though... We really do need a better PG

The bad part about the exception is that it turns into 10 million in salary once we use it.

we cant use shannon brown in a trade because his contract always seems to have a PO for the second year.

essentially this gives shannon some degree of trade boycotting because he can just say to his prospective new team that he'll exercise that option and they will essentially lose him to free agency in the summer of 2011.

actually he really does have a no trade clause, mgmt. have to get his ok 1st because he'll lose his birds right if traded.

very true, last time this was invoked, it was devean george doing it to screw the mavs

although not if his new team agrees to extend him; by which shannon probably says "sign me up!"

Didn't his no trade clause come from becoming an unrestricted free agent then re-signing with the team?
