Bosh shuts down Griffin (so does Ryan Anderson)

Post#1 » by colts18 » Mon Feb 7, 2011 7:28 pm

Blake Griffin went 0-5 against Bosh yesterday when Bosh guarded him. How come people don't give attention to Bosh's defense? He shuts down the most hyped player of this generation and no one talks about it. Instead they are focused on the fact that Bosh is perceived as "soft" and can't play defense. The Heat are the 3rd best defense in the league for a reason. It's not all Wade and James. Bosh is the post presence that allows their defense to work. Bosh has the best plus/minus on the Heat yet he gets questions about whether he deserves to go to the all-star game.

Bosh is technically the defensive anchor of the Heat

people don't give him enough credit
he's anchoring one of the leagues best defenses

i'd say he's easily the 2nd most important player on the team after LeBron (wade is still a fantastic player but he's easily replaceable)

He's been doing better lately... he was horrible in the first 20 games though.

A top 5 player in the league easily replaceable? By whom, may I ask?

Well, it took a few games for him to learn the new scheme and rotations, and get comfortable with them.

He's got them now...

Griffin had 21 and 16. Bosh had 16 and 7 and missed like 5 free throws. good job though.

BTW no way in hell is Bosh the #2 guy on the Heat

Bosh is widely considered a top 15 player in the NBA and it would be more thread worthy had Bosh not defended well with a monster Griffin game.

People don't like Bosh on defense because he doesn't do some of the things a traditional big does. He's not an intimidator, not an enforcer, not a great shotblocker, doesn't take up a huge amount of space, not a dominant rebounder.

On the other hand, he's amazing at defending the pick and roll, the most commonly run play in the NBA. His quickness for a big is outstanding, and while he isn't going to push a guy around, he is almost always able to at least contest a shot. Just an all around great team defender. And his height/length really bothers guys going up against him.

He told the coach that blake was making him nervous when diving after all those loose balls around his legs.

That, and the Heat play Joel Anthony a lot whose only reason to be on the floor is to defend guys like Blake and Amare. Bosh probably guarded him while Z was in the game.

Yeah, okay. It's much more likely that Blake has the flu or caught wind of a sick child who was rooting for the Heat than it is somebody "shuts him down".
