Official race for 9th/10th

Post#1 » by The-Insider » Sat Mar 22, 2008 2:49 am

We just won the first of our back-to-back tonight, and with a win over the Sens tomorrow and a Bruins loss by the Canadians we'll better position ourselves for the home-and-home with Boston next week.

Whether we win our remaining 7 games or not, we'll likely finish off strong. They get paid to do it, they play for the name on their back, a lot of these player will likely play for other teams next season, and these players will continue to compete. I guess that

The game showed some of our future in Steen and Stajan...

Mat Stajan has raised his game, I relegated him to the 3rd or 4th line at the start of the year, even having him as a spare part, his game has opened my eyes and he was a force last night...

If Sundin retires at the end of this season we have 2 young players poised to lead our team going forward...

Toskala will have to be renamed "The Finnish Magician" some of his saves were just spectacular and talk about sleight of hand, he pulls off saves that should be goals and if not for him the game may have had a very different outcome...

I kind of want Leafs to get 8th if they get to play Montreal. That series would be crazy.

They may as well get in to the playoffs at this point, they've screwed up any hope at getting a solid pick or a top pick. Then again, knowing this team we'll finish just a few points short of the playoffs.

I really don't have faith in this team turning it around even going into next season. I find myself feeling like the fan in the Major League movies.

This team has played fantastic hockey lately. It really shows what speed can do for a team. Let the young guys ride out the season, they've earned it the past couple of weeks. As well, Vesa Toskala is looking amazing in the nets for the Leafs. Both Kubina and McCabe has played pretty well down the stretch...all too late.

We are "officially" out of the playoff race so hopefully they rest Sundin and give Toskola a game off so we can fall a little further in the standings. I put officially in quotes because I know mathematically we are still in it but realistically it is over now.

same old leafs, make a lame late season push for the 8th spot fall short and end up with a mediocre first round pick.

This reminds me why I purchused center ice and enjoy watching so many other teams beside the Leafs.

It's funny how they played lights out during the run where they pulled themselves back up, but in the two games that counted the most they decided to play like their **** selves.

well better now than last game of the season where we won't have a chance to play the kids

but no matter how much your expecting it, it still sucks when you know for sure there's no playoff hockey

Ahhh this sucks. Third straight year we miss the playoffs and 2 straight years we make a late season run. I really hope Fletcher pulls off a big trade to shake the roster up and starts getting rid of the players that have reached there highest stock...Like Antropov or Toskala.

Toskala is a great goalie but now that his stock is high we might as well trade him and try to develop Justin Pogge.

Antropov is nothing but a pilon that camps in front of the net. Now that hes had a career year we should trade him in a package deal to get some real talent.

It would be stupid to trade Toskala based on the fact we have Pogge in the system. Pogge has shown nothing at the NHL level yet and it would be silly to trade a goalie thats prolly around one of the ten best in the league for a question mark. Look a team like Tampa they let there #1 goalie goal and ever since they are struggling to stay competitive. Unless its a trade like us moving up to the #1 overall pick in the draft I think it would be stupid to trade Toskala.
