I don't see Ottawa as being that physical. They have basically the same team as last season and when push came to shove, Anaheim kicked the crap out of them.

That's why I link a team like Philly can beat them. In the playoffs, it's not about goal scoring compared to defense and being physical. Ottawa has the much better defense but Philly has the brutal, physical fore-check that can neutralize the lack of defense Philly has compared to Ottawa. Plus I would take Biron over Gerber or Emery.

I completely disagree with you here. Anytime a team loses one of their best players to injuries, their urgency to win increases big time. They realize they could easily hurt themselves in the long run in regards to the playoffs. So every player steps it up.

That's where Conklin and Sabourin come into play. Once Fleury got hurt, they stepped it up because they knew the team could fall out of the playoffs if they didn't play well.

Also, the Pens aren't playing a different style of hockey since Crosby went down. If anything, looking at it now, it was great. It showed Malkin can play great hockey without Sid. It gave Pittsburgh one of the best 2nd lines in hockey today with Malone-Geno-Sykora. If this line gets broken up when Sid gets back, I will personally kick the crap out of Therrien.

Disagree, Pittsburgh was more desperate for wins when Crosby got injured because they knew if they went on a long losing streak it would most likely cost them the playoffs in the end. With Ottawa they were sitting nicely and first and there wasnt as much urgency to panic when Heatley and Alfreddson went down.

This is wrong and Ottawa showed this when they ran over the East last season in the playoffs. Ottawa was pretty much just too fast, too skilled and too physical. Ive heard many times on coach's corner or various hockey talk shows where they say all the players they talk to in the eastern conference say Ottawa has the most physical defence in the East. I think your looking way too much into the cup finals because the fact is Anaheim beat up every team they played against last season and if that final was Anaheim vs Buffalo it would have been a total **** with Anaheim making them look even sillier then Ottawa.

no way I take Biron in the playoffs over Emery. In Emerys first full season as a #1 he was good enough to get his team to the cup finals. The other two havent accomplished much in the playoffs at all.

They're one of 2 teams I see emerging from the East. Despite their recent struggles, they have a fantastic team. You can't overlook that.

It hasn't been recent struggles. It has been all year except for the first 16 games. If it wasn't for their hot start, they wouldn't be in the race for the playoffs right now. Take away 4 for those wins and they'd be eliminated.

They started out 15-2. There record after that is 27-28-8. If not for their hot streak, they'd be out of the playoffs. How does that make them a powerhouse in the east?

Ottawa loses one more game (very possible) and the Caps win out, then Ottawa is out of the playoffs.

Fantastic team? Nah...

We'll see in the playoffs. They're still an Eastern conference threat.
