His offensive numbers may be Oberto-esque, but 3 Blocks and 2 steals vs. 1 foul is pretty good.

True, he is more of a defensive player anyway. I am concerned about the rebounding numbers, I'd rather him be a good rebounder/defensive player if he has no offense. Alabi in-contrast had 20 point 11 rebounds and 1 BS against Tiny Gallon at C. Wait and see with Hamady...hey! that rhymes :D

Good News on the N'Diaye front, he was the only player on the + side on the Dakota team. Hamady also has improved numbers. FWIW, considering it's D-League.

N'Diaye's 2 points he scored last night are on the highlight reel at about 30 seconds - put-back slam.

This is what DraftExpress had to say about Hamady's performance at the D-League Showcase.

Having played just five games in the D-League since the Washington Wizards assigned him and still making his way into the rotation as just 19 minutes per game off the bench, it's tough to evaluate N'Diaye beyond what we've already seen from him in college and at Portsmouth.

The best thing to take away from the limited action we saw from N'Diaye is the physical and vocal style he brings to the defensive end, doing a great job communicating with his teammates, stepping out to help on the perimeter in the lane, and really asserting his physical tools well all over the floor. He did a decent job when matched against Cole Aldrich in one game, bodying him up well and doing a solid job keeping him from establishing dominant position. His ability to block shots both in the post and helping from the weakside is a great strength, but cutting down on his fouls needs to be a priority.

Offensively, N'Diaye is still very much a work in progress, not being able to contribute much other than an occasional jump hook in the post and hitting just a poor 4-for-15 field goal attempts in his five games since being sent down. Finding better ways to impact the game off the ball should be his priority by getting open on cuts, pinning his man under the rim, crashing the offensive glass, and setting hard picks to get teammates open, as his post game is still very much a work in progress.

Looking forward, N'Diaye still has some work to do, but getting some minutes in the D-League should be pretty good for his development. Cutting down on the fouls and finding ways to contribute offensively should be his main priorities, while further developing his post game or becoming a more respectable mid-range shooter wouldn't hurt either.

N'Diaye is doing a nice job of showing teams what his role could be at the NBA level, as his combination of size, length, strength and toughness is difficult to come by, and the fact that he reportedly has outstanding intangibles will help him quite a bit in his goal of sticking around long-term.

....and another write-up on assigned NBA players that includes N'Diaye.
Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Aldrich actually squared off against N’Diaye and Pittman in successive Showcase games. Aldrich had arguably his best showing as a D-Leaguer Wednesday. He set a career highs with 19 points and 7 blocks and also added 5 rebounds and 2 steals as the 66ers defeated Dakota 96-92. Aldrich’s rebounding numbers were down at the Showcase, but his offensive game looked solid. Washington Wizards center Hamady N’Diaye’s performance was less impressive. Against Aldrich and the 66ers he managed just 6 points on 1-3 shooting (4-8 FT) with 7 rebounds and 1 block. The day before he recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds, but did contribute defensively with 4 blocks. Pittman, a member of the Miami Heat, finished his Showcase with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks as his Skyforce were crushed by the Reno Bighorns, 117-93.

N'Diyae is a 4-year player so I'm not sure how-much he will improve on offense, sounds like he might have some use as a foul-giving 3rd center.

Thats more rebounds than he had here.

Totals 12 minutes. Zero shots. Zero rebounds.

He has only had 5 games down there. I may take him a moment to remember how to play a live game.

One 7 rebound game
One 4 block game

Its a start.

Alabi was who I wanted to see us get. If I see him balln in the NBA Im going to be pissed but happy for him.

Now he is in the NBA

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310115027

News: The Raptors recalled Alabi from the D-League on Friday, the team's official site reports.
Spin: Alabi has been with Erie since being sent down on Jan. 6, averaging 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in four games. He'll return to play a very minor bench role with the Raptors.

Looks-like Incremental improvement for Hamady. When H arrived in the D-League, he was a fouling machine and not much else. His rebounds and scoring have creeped-up while the PF's have gone down.

Glad he is getting some burn down there and showing some improvement.

I remember his agent didn't want him coming here is he was going to play down there. Guess once they got him here they talked him into it. Nicely played by EG. Always good to have another big getting developed in the wings. ala SA.

Truthaboutit has a nice entry "Catching Up With D-League Hamady". Another "Incessant" post on the topic

I think you are remembering Seraphins comments about D-league. Hamadys agent was just trying to get him some place to play, but since he did not get lot of burn in summer league it was kinda hard.

Clamoring for another N'Diaye update? :) With Dakota's Chris Johnson called-up by the Blazers, Hamady played a season-high 28 minutes last night battling Dexter Pittman. Hamady for the Oops at 1:05

Ladee dadee, we all love Hamady.

He talks about how much hungrier everyone is in the D-league and how it helped improve his focus. We should send McGee and Blatche down there to get there assess kicked by untalented but hustling scrubs, maybe some hunger to maximize your talent will rub off on them.

I don't think that would work with McGee. McGee is so athletically superior that he would just dominate those scrubs while reinforcing bad habits.

It might be a great idea for Blatche though. There's not a lot of partying going on in Bismark, North Dakota. No glamour, no glitz; just guys working on their game. Send Blatche there and tell him he's not coming back until he averages 12 boards a game while shooting 55% or better.

Blatche to Bismark would be fugging awesome. Let's start a petition. And pitch a reality show.

Craig Stouffer has a similar article in the Examiner, about Hamady's time in the D-League. I hope that Armstrong is traded and we go with the Young-guys the rest of the season.

Washington Examiner
N'Diaye averaged 4.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks with Dakota.

I think this says it all. Neck may suck, but he rarely plays. It's not like he taking any time away from N'Diaye "the great D-League prospect".

Return to Washington Wizards
