Luke's Absence

Post#1 » by Klomp » Tue Feb 8, 2011 6:04 am

Ridnour will miss his fourth consecutive game to be with his family. His wife recently delivered twins and there are complications with one that has kept him close to home for the past week.

Thanks Klomp.

You don't want to hear that about his baby, but I think the timing of this has been a blessing for Flynn.

No decent person wouldn't wish the best for a little baby...

Out of respect for the Ridnour family, please don't be so tactless.

I wish Luke and his family all the best.

Good that we can now see what Flynn can do with starters minutes over a few games, though, even if the circumstances are bad.

This is awful news. First Brewers dad and now Luke's kid.

Hopefully everything works out with his family. On a basketball note, it's time to trade him. He's a different type of player from Telfair and Flynn, but in terms of overall quality he's comparable. Since he's the oldest and the most expensive, he's the one they should move. If they could trade him for Anthony Randolph straight up, that would be a terrific deal for them.

It would be pretty terrible to trade the guy right now. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, but unless it was a big time deal, I don't think you can do that to him.

But FOs probably don't think like that...

Luke's been our second most consistent player this season behind Kevin Love. Why on earth would we want to deal him, especially if there's talk that ownership wants to see more wins?

I seriously have never understood the hate for him. I love what he's brought to the table for the team this year.

Well, I do have to admit to having an irrational hatred for Luke Ridnour and his smug little face. I can't stand the fact that the player brought in to be a smart, veteran presence has by far led the team in atrocious late-game decision making. With that being said, he's a perfectly nice player. Worth his contract. Definitely right in that zone between superior back-up and mediocre starter. But they should deal him because you only have playing time for 2 point guards. How much better is he than Flynn? Very little if at all. Telfair? Very little if at all. If they're all at similar levels, Flynn has to play the most, because he's the youngest and has potential to be the most valuable. And Telfair should be the top backup because he's cheaper.
Their two best stretches of the season have been with him out. When he and Flynn were hurt, and these past couple games. Ridnour isn't worth wins to them. If you could turn him into positive value and get out of his contract, it's a no-brainer.

It's strange how Luke is out of the game and people assume we're better because of that, but then ignore the fact that Darko and Beasley (our two ball stoppers) also didn't play much the last two games.

It's not as if their problem this season has been their offense. They score plenty of points. Do people on here actually believe that Ridnour is significantly better than Flynn or Telfair? I just don't think there's much that distinguishes any of the three overall.

Ridnour's the only one that can shoot, at least consistently.

too many turnovers for Flynn and that missed layup was brutal, that could've easily cost the game
