Thank you...I've been saying this for months now. Some of these posters gives this man too much credit. Didn't he swear Kobe would be a Knick?

Wait a second. SAS said that Melo was annoyed with the Knicks "dragging their feet" MONTHS ago...even when they (Denver) didn't even have a freaking GM.

Something is up here. Either Melo is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), or SAS is just making things up.

I sort of skimmed through your car analogy, but the point stands... when it comes down to it, I like Gallo as well..... but this 'fan-boy' situation can't be reversed to Melo 'fan-boys' because Melo is... worthy of such a stance...... 'fan-boys' who are willing to let their like for the decent to average player in Gallo get in the way of landing the proven starting all star superstar Melo - they are out of there mind........ yes, you have the right not to prefer Gallo be the one trade if there are other possibilities, but to let a like in Gallo, the clearly and blatantly lesser player to Melo, get in the way of landing Melo..... would be illogical.... you get the feeling some people around here wouldn't trade the two straight up - that's the type of blind love you deal with.........

as i said, you lost me on the whole car thing..... but Melo-fans who want to do everything to get him here have merit to want that and are grounded in him being a bonafide superstar..... Gallo homers who think he's untouchable and seemingly would rather hold onto him rather than get Melo (BT?) have no merit to do so because that clearly isn't making a decision based on the skill / betterment of the team... but personal interest/like in gallo.... ya follow?

Well two things you need to look at.. First of all, knicks management don't view gallo as a "average" player, and I bet other GM's around the league view him higher than Average.

Next, the knicks feel they are in a position of advantage, so why give up more than you have to?

Again, you are saying not to let gallo get in the way of getting melo, but it is just not gallo when you add him to the equation.. it is real simple.. itis about value... do this, show me proof that the nuggets want to do a deal, ,melo for gallo straight up and then your post makes sense.. otherwise you are just rambling... The knicks don't want to trade a toyota, an acura and cash for a lexus when they can just wait and buy the lexus in a few months... and it has nothing to do with a toyota or an acura individually standing in the way.. it is the package as a whole!!!

Well SAS did say if we were willing to part with Fields and Gallo this would have been done weeks ago (didn't he?), he may have even said any 2 including Chandler......now if that doesn't happen it'd be even worse.... I too would hold onto Gallo of those three, but not doing it now (supposedly) because we don't want to give up fields, come on now...... and perhaps i'm slighting Gallo a bit, he's probably above average, but he isn't a top guy to say the least... he'd fit in well as a guy behind Melo and Amare........ but to your reference, trading in the two okay cars to get Melo, the Mercedes, to be with the BMW Amare.... you do that... and we'd still have 1 of the 3 (gallo.fields.chandler)plus Felton... I don't think you can pass that up...... I know we have a certain amount of leverage, and maybe they'll prove they used it well if the nuggets cave to a deal without fields and gallo...... but the Knicks have to be realistic, we cant sit back and say Chandler AR Curry and a pick (not that we are.. ) and allow these Laker teams to come in and snag him for whoever.... we can hold out yes, but if Denver says okay to a deal surrounding Gallo - yea gota do it... Gallo and Fields - eh that'd be pushing it... but if they really wanted that, perhaps.. that would more depend on if there were any other teams that could snag him at the deadline that would be a threat to getting him in FA...

I know we have some leverage and aren't going to give the ship.. but we should be going after melo like we need him and truly do want him... not 'oh we happen to be in a circumstance where we can land him, and if Denver doesn't submit to our offer we'll sign him in FA' - even if that may be true... that just, isn't a risk worth taking in my book... getting Melo here would be huge, even if it means giving up Fields and Chandler.

its not about who we have to give up or who we should give up. the nuggets are the ones that are screwed when melo said he wants NY and no one else. we need to stay strong. denver will fold. SAS has no patience, along with some of you.

what if Buss changes his mind and decides to pull the trigger on Melo and Melo signs with the Lakers? If Buss is the one holding it up, which is the last I heard, how would you feel to see a team come out of no where and get this guy who was dead set on coming here.... there are certain teams Melo will also sign with imo, Lakers, Heat, perhaps the Magic if they were able to, etc..... It would be just our luck to watch the Heat trade bosh for melo...

I'm amazed at Buss' decision if it is in fact him holding that deal up....

Amazed at what? Being smart? I would rather keep Bynum/Gasol/Odom and go after Gerald Wallace/Stephen Jackson than trade Bynum for Melo. Melo and Kobe do the same thing and you can't teach height.

I am not buying into SAS trash.. months ago the nuggets thought they had a deal with the nets and were not interested in what the knicks had.. so I am not believing that at all.. again, he is screaming what most of you want to hear...

And again, why give up all of that for a Benz I can just wait and get on sale a few months down the road?

I agree. The Lakers aren't a team that needs that big of a B12 shot. They need a lil tweak. I feel Artest os trying to inch his way here. I really feel as if he wouldn't be satisfied until he came to the Knicks especially now that he has a ring. And especially as I see that never happening he would never be satisfied in this league. Plus I doubt the Buss' want to spend that kind of luxury tax money. They're alreayd gonna give Kobe MJ money.

Who knows what other teams will come out of the wood work in the last few days to steal him.. I think thinking he'd only sign here may be a little risky at this point... I'm not sure who else besides the Lakers are around that could get him and that he'd sign with but... who knows, not getting him (if we were able to) and allowing some dark horse that melo could perhaps sign with like the nets bulls magic lakers even have an opportunity, because we want to hold onto a few guys.... like i said in the other thread, if it works out and we have a Melo Fields Gallo Amare Felton group i'll praise Donnie even more.... but if we lose out on him for those guys and he signs else where.. that would be pretty upsetting.

I to would tend to agree that unless it's Gallo that Denver really wants and that the Knicks really want to keep, so much so that it's holding up a deal from happening... you'd have to think that the Knicks would have already pulled the trigger on giving up 2/3 for Melo as SAS is suggesting they haven't...hell we heard the rumor

Eh Melo would be a long term solution... it would sort of show the future of the franchise and the perhaps passing of the torch from one super star in Kobe to the next guy to be the king of the town for 6 years or w/e in Melo...... I agree he obviously isn't the best fit, but long term wise, Kobe has a few great years left yes, but after that... I could see them going after Melo... the Lakers without a true super star (once kobe falls from that category) wouldn't be the lakers..

How well they mesh is kinda irrelevant.
Great players are great players. Sometimes it's seamless and sometimes not.
It's one of the best problems to have in the NBA. Just ask the Miami Heat.
That goes for an Amare/Melo pairing just as much as it does for a Kobe/Melo tandem.

So for months we were led to believe from every single commentator and pundit with or without a source that Denver never invited NYK to the table because they didn't like their assets, the lack of 1st round picks and probably a healthy dose of animosity. Now FOS aka SAS tells us the Knicks could have had Melo for 2 of their 3 top prospects all along?

I don't care how many times he repeats it with his ever increasing volume and self aggrandizing that is utter trash.

That might be what it takes now since the NJ deal is off the table and they are nowhere to be found in the deal talks. That might be what Denver is saying now in an effort to save face in negotiating and with the fans. That's what ultimately what the deal may consist of if it goes down before the trade dead line at all.

There is no way that at any point before NJ dropped out is that what was on the table for the Knicks and they chose to not address it. I believe Walsh 100% when he says they were never asked to the table and never given a clear answer on what Denver wanted from the Knicks up until NJ stepped off and don't believe that FOS loud mouth trying to find his way into the spotlight after a 3 year exile, yes, I don't believe him not one iota.
