Game Thread?

Post#1 » by closg00 » Wed Feb 9, 2011 3:57 pm

Someone gonna make a thread for tonights game so I can delete this-one? John Salmons & Jennings are both back for the Bucks.

The Milwaukee Bucks ended their losing streak in time to try and extend one that's consumed the Washington Wizards for a little more than two weeks.

Looking to win consecutive games for the first time in February, the visiting Bucks try to hand the Wizards a ninth straight defeat Wednesday night.

Milwaukee (20-30) snapped a four-game skid with a 92-74 home win over Toronto on Tuesday. It was the second-fewest points the Bucks have allowed this season.

Sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference and 1 1/2 games out of the final playoff spot, the Bucks believe now is the time to string some victories together if they plan to reach the postseason for the second straight year.

"I think there's definitely a sense of urgency," said John Salmons, who scored a team-high 17 points in his first start in three weeks. "I think we feel like we definitely have to make a push now. We can't wait any longer. Hopefully we can get on a little roll, try to win some games and make it to the playoffs.

We should just do one game thread for the rest of the season...

Btw, didn't someone suggest that last year..???

Good idea, can a Mod hook us up with this? With his kind of season, one continuous game thread is all that we need.

I still think each game should have its own thread.
Except that for the rest of season, every game thread should be titled: "Game Thread?"

Game related content: Nice suit Bogut!

being a season ticket holder, I have to suffer through
the rest of the home games.

with that thought in mind, there is a pre-game
thing in the Dewars club tonight as well as a post-game
autograph session.

Any RealGMers planning to attend either of these?

You have to be a true fan to be willing to pay to watch these guys.

I am a true fan since Earl Monroe's rookie year.

For better or worse, the decision was made nearly a year ago.

ps - I'm enough of an idiot to wear a stupid Wiz wig to games.

Tonight I'm going well prepared though. I'm taking a brown
paper bag too. I can either wear it or throw up into it.

Wow. Were you going to the games back when they won the title? That was so long ago.

I don't think I actually attended a game until I was out of college so
I can say I saw Wes and E play with KP (Wes' and E's last year here).

Back in the day, PLAYOFF games were not even on TV.
I remember HEARING about the epic battles btw
the Bullets and Knicks but you were lucky if
the away games were on TV.

To stray even farther from the subj of the thread,
I recently caught the clinching game of the 70 World
Series on either MASN or CSN. They panned old Memorial
stadium during the game and there were quite a few
empty seats. Times have changed.

Ob Wiz vs Bucks thought - No Yi, No Thornton tonight.
Booker will get plenty of minutes, maybe even KevSer.
I don't expect a W - it's a character test, just like being
a Wiz fan in general.

I saw the first game with Webb-Howard - they lost
I saw the first game with Strickland - they lost
I saw game 6 vs LeTravel Traveliers - they lost
I saw Gil limp off the court vs CHA way back when (another lifetime?).

I did see Gil hit for 50 vs UT on MLK day - they won
I also saw Juan drop 35 on CHI in the playoffs- they won.

I remember going to a couple of games back during their title years. Hayes looked so big up close, especially since i was only a kid. I remember them playing the Sonics in the finals but i don't remember any of the playoff games before then. Now i know why lol.

Downtown Freddie Brown scared me. Whenever he shot i thought it was going in.

Before i went to Atlanta i was watching a lot of the games. I had high hopes for Googs.

Getting back to the present i want to see Booker on the court a lot from here until the end of the season. They are losing so many games anyway i don't see a reason not to play him.

might as well play KS as well.

oh I also remember going to an Os game in the Why Not (89) season.
We settled into our seats and not too long after that kev Grevey
cruises in and sits one row in front of us.

Another time at Mem Stadium (home opener vs Den in final year 83)
I was hustling to get to my seat and ran past Ruland on the concourse.

For some reason, I flashed back to the 1982 playoffs - the first playoff game I ever went to - little Frankie Johnson making a spectacular put-back slam against the Nets in traffic.

Flash forward to the end of this thread: Oh, the pain. Inexcusable lack of effort. That's not basketball. How hard is it to block out? They just had too many open 3's. He needs to be benched now. Well, we're leading the league in something - 21 footers. Gotta get to the line more. Really Flip, really? Welp, Cleveland's coming up soon.

I am guessing he would probably get more minutes if not for the language barrier. I don't know if he can even speak English yet.

I think the first playoff game I ever saw was

(I was going to say DET when we had the Malones and Rodman
was a rookie)

Dr J's last year when the Bullets played PHL in the first rnd.
Manute was a rookie. Terry Catledge burned us in the deciding
game. Then we traded for him. From that I learned it's often a
mistake to trade for a player simply because he ripped you a new
one. Subtract the games they had vs you and look how they play
against everyone else.

If KS still has a language barrier, the team should have an interpreter.
