OT: Dirty Sanchez Dating a 17 Year old High Schooler

First off... I know the girl is "legal" by state law, and Sanchez is 24, but I think a 7 year difference is quite large when you are talking about the girl being in High School still.

Legally OK, but in my book ethically waaaaay wrong.

If that was my daughter I would destroy that borderline pedo.

How many "Dirty Sanchez" signs are we going to see in visiting teams stadiums now?

I agree, I'm barely in a position to speak as I'm 28 dating a 20 year old but even that is a big difference. If I was the father of that girl I'd probably beat the crap out of him.

I think the High School thing is what makes it so wrong... 17, in high school is not the same as 20.... Granted in years it is very close, but the kid can't even vote yet.... messed up.

Oh I agree, you mature a lot between say 16 and 22, everyone at their own rate but yeah. The age gap becomes less and less as you get older. I think the rule of thumb is the youngest you should go is your age /2 + 7 so for me is 21

For Sanchez at 24 the youngest he should date is 19

I guess I just think the media is overdoing it. There are mature high schoolers and there are immature 24 year olds. Age is a number. I don't think Sanchez is dating this girl "because" she is in high school, she just happens to be in high school.

Personally I find Hefner's relationships with these women old enough to be her grandchildren to be much more problematic. This doesn't really seem like a huge deal to me...

I've come across 17 year olds who were more mentally and physically mature than 27 year olds. Then there are 17 year olds who look and act like most 13 year olds. Realistically, the morality of it should be determined on a case by case basis. In general though people don't want to do it that way though because it's not efficient and their minds are either are incapable of rigidity or don't want to bend because of cognitive dissonance.

In practice it's typically more shamed for a 24-year old man to be a with a 17-year old girl, than a 24-year old woman to be with a 17-year old boy (I certainly wouldn't have regretted it at that age). But having that philosophy conflicts with the studies that show that the averaged 17-year old girl equates maturity-wise to the average 19-year old guy, or thereabouts. If it was even 2 gay guys together, one aged 24 and the other 19, would there be as much outcry? They'd go through scrutiny, but it would be of a different kind.

Taking advantage of young people is among the worst things a person can do, when it's actually occurring, but throwing these labels on people who have made connections with partners who are truly mature for their age, is wrong, on a lower level, as well.

So I don't know if Sanchez is wrong in this particular case. I'd have to see and hear from the girl in order to start judging.

I guess my first question would be, where does a 24 year old professional starting QB meet a 17 year old high schooler?

I'm not saying this is right or wrong. Just odd.

Also, I hate the argument... "if she were my daughter..." I don't have a daughter, but I hope I do one day and whether the guy is a 24 year old starting NFL QB or a bricklayer, he's gonna have a lot to prove to me.

Yeah, fathers are going to have a problem wrapping their heads around the concept of their daughters getting nailed for the first few times anyways, regardless of the guy's age. You can't go by them and their "emotions". But the law does, to an extent, because they have power.

Sanchez is a moron

He's the starting QB in the NFL and on top of that, he's the QB for the largest market team in the league. That comes with responsibilities beyond just throwing a football on Sundays and by playing in New York, everything he does will be highly scrutinized by all the media there.

The guy is a wealthy and single athlete, so of course he'll chase all kinds of tail. Everyone understands that. If he likes them young though, at least make sure a girl is 18 so a story like this can't blow up. Extremely poor judgment by him and i'd be quite pissed off if i ran the Jets.
