What sort of anti-knick vitriol is he spewing this time? Has he gotten up on high horse to tell us why the Knicks aren't able to do this deal because of their frumpy owner? -Jitpal
Actually...he is doing the exact opposite. Really good interview. Giving a lot of props to Donnie. Said the Knicks are in a position of power. Said Donnie has played this really well...Donnie "let the Nets be the boxer who punched themselves out" and is going to continue to let it ride out because he knows he has leverage.
Says Melo is bluffing with his latest quotes. Everyone knows he doesn't really mean it. That he could possibly extend if it came down to it but that he wants to be a Knick more than anything and this is a last ditch effort to push the Knicks to deal for him.
Says the Lakers deal won't happen. The Lakers don't want to do it....said he even talked to Kobe about it and Kobe doesn't want to do it. Quoted Kobe as saying that the Lakers' strength is their size and length and they don't want to mess with that.
He did say that he can see Donnie eventually giving up one more piece like Gallo or Fields but that he ultimately sees a deal getting done with NY and no one else, though the better option for Denver might be to just keep him out of pride. That they would rather keep him and see how it unfolds through the summer than to take a bad deal which is why if the Knicks want him now, they might have to up their offer.
Overall, he didn't sound nearly as douchey as he does in his articles. Sounded knowledgeable and level-headed...not biased at all. I like what I heard but from what I gather....the bottom line is that Donnie is going to try to push this to the deadline to see if he can keep his guys, but that we'll most likely have to give up more than the current offer of Curry, Chandler and AR to get Melo now. If not, the likely scenario is that he stays in Denver for the rest of the season and then the new saga will begin. Will Anthony ride it out til free agency??? Ughh....
