I would like to point out that while most people on the board are obsessed with talking about how putrid our defense/overall rebounding is (which their is no denying), why is it that people do not get on our inconsistent offense more when in reality that is a clear problem as well. I mentioned earlier that outside of Amare and Gallo (at times), are the only 2 players who will frequently be able to get to the line. It almost feels like our offense is pass Amare the ball at the elbow, space the shooters out and either he is going to drive to the hoop in double coverage, or we are going to attempt a 3 (second in the league in that area). Every night going into a game I obviously worry about our defense, yet Its seems to be up in the air in terms of what offensive contributions we are going to get from Felton, Gallo, and Chandler, even Fields (although he is a rookie.)
The bottom line is because the Knicks rely heavily on 3's (again this goes back to not having enough players who can create their own shot/get to the line) we have established ourselves simply as a team of streaks. We are going to get hot for a stretch of games, and then cold as well. Dating back we lose 6 in a row in early November, come back and win 8 in a row in early December, then lose 3, win 2, lose 2, and win 3. It is really scary that we are in this type of pattern. Couple this in with losses at home to the clippers and sacramento, and on the road at minnesota, milwaukee, and the Cavs (last win was against us), this 2010-2011 Knick team is so inconsistent offensively (how many times have you heard Clyde and Breen talking about coming out completely flat). Believe me, I love how Mozgov is finally getting minutes at Center, and Amare at least for now moved back to the PF slot. But even with the addition of a true backup PG, and another big to log some minutes for rebounding/being a presence down low, we still are going to have a flawed offense.
