Packers you have met

Post#1 » by Wilford Brimley » Wed Feb 9, 2011 10:07 pm

My friend works at Starbucks in Milwaukee, and he said this morning, Barnett, Peprah, Collins and Tramon came through. No idea why they'd be down here (is there a Bucks game tonight?) and Peprah thru down more than $25 so he had to sign the receipt. My friend was pumped.

Have you guys met any Packers past or present? I've been pretty lucky:

Ryan Longwell - 2004- Charity golf event - not a douche, but kinda distant

Brett Favre - same event as above - he was chill, just shook his hand

Mark Tauscher - same event as above - really nice, normal dude

Don Majik - same event as above - signed for everyone, chatted it up with everyone, smoking hot wife, too

Gilbert Brown - Saw him from a distance at State Fair as he was getting wisked away by his people, took some pics with a couple fans tho

Donald Driver - Signed autographs at State Fair, really cool guy

Ryan Grant/Will Blackmon - autograph session at a car dealership - both very, very nice

And.....

Aaron Rodgers Incredibly gracious. 2005 - Training camp - talked to him for 20 minutes as he signed autos. 2006 - signed autos at a grocery store by my house; he even remembered me from 05. 2008 - Stalked him at a Bucks vs Lakers game. He was not amused.

My friend's aunt lives by him in GB and she says there are chicks at his house all the time. He is a good neeighbor and even babysits for his neighbors kids from time to time.

There was a Bucks game last night though I'm not sure any of them made it, they were talking on twitter and a bunch of the players came down to Milwaukee to celebrate after the Lambeau Field thing last night.

I hope Aaron Rodgers will baby sit my kids if I ever have any.

I'm pretty lame, so I am going to need someone to teach them to be awesome. :P

Met Ahman Green in Green Bay when I was 15 in a hotel when he was at his peak. It was my cousin's wedding and the bride's brother was bringing him in to sign a bunch of stuff for his sports memorabilia company. Talked with him a bit, was in complete shock. At the time was my favorite all-time Packer. Now he sits behind Rodgers. Criminally underrated amongst a lot of Packer fans.

Used to work at Cousins Subs in Oconomowoc. I made sandwiches on multiple occasions for Gilbert Brown in 2006 who I believe had been living in the Olympia Apartments for a short period of time. Also made a Sandwich for Johnny Mac once. Funny stuff though, he walked in, I ran in the back and called over my boss over who didn't recognize him. I was like, 'That dude is Gilbert **** Brown.'
'Dude, no it's not.'
I ran up to the register, and plainly said, 'What's up Gilbert? What can I do for you.' My boss acknowledged it and just froze.
He ordered two whole sandwiches, 15 inches a piece, sat down ate one, and I'm assuming ate the other one at home. Before he left, I made sure to do the grave digger to which he got a kick out of.
Two days later he came in with a cute little blonde girl and had lunch with her. When he did, he ordered a half sandwich and a bottled water.

My cousin lives by Tauscher and is cool with him,she actually invited me to a BBQ at his house last summer but I didn't feel like driving up there, kind of a cool opportunity I messed up because I was being lazy.

She says he one of the coolest most down to earth people she has met.

Met Josh Sitton and his college sweetheart at a Bucks game. They couldn't have been nicer, he seemed genuinely happy that his standout play on the field was starting to be noticed around the league and they were the ones to ask me--and then my friends--if I wanted a picture taken. We all did some shots, talked a bit then went our respective ways once the game started. Just a good guy.

Ed West, Terrell Buckley, Chris Jacke, Robert Brooks, George Koonce and LeRoy Butler - only Butler was after he retired at a charity golf tournament. No exciting stories or anything I can say about them, but cool to meet them at the time.

Max McGee came to our house to pick up my oldest sister for a date. She was a stewardess & they met on a flight. I was around 10. He was funny and jovial.

Had dinner with Jennings his rookie year at Favre's steakhouse and got to hang out with him a couple other times his first 2 years in the league, also dinner with Hawk the same place the same year. Got to hang out with Clay 3 times the last 2 seasons. Hung out with Crosby about a year ago for about an hour (he's a big Seinfeld fan). Finley last year. Johnny Jolly. Ryan Grant. Gilbert Brown, LeRoy Butler, Paul Hornung, Robert Brooks (not real friendly), Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Bob Long & Tom Brown (from Super Bowl I team), Lynn Dickey, quite a few others over the years.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Went to a charity event hosted by Al Harris, one Packer was on each team, but it was real casual so I got to walk around and meet and talk to other players...I didnt get to meet everyone there, but I did meet,

Tramon Williams - Was on my team. He bowled like a 220. All of these guys were really good at bowling it was kinda funny

Atari Bigby - On the team against us, kind of a douche.

Donald Driver - Seriously the nicest guy

Al Harris - I don't really remember, I'm pretty sure he was cool lol

Mark Tauscher - Just stopped and got a picture with him, he didn't say much. But he's BIG AS HELL

Mason Crosby - Funny story, and embarrassing. I only knew what lane he was on, and I really didn't know what he looked like all too well. Well I walked up to the wrong guy, asked Mason if I could have his autograph, and the guy just kinda laughed and pointed to Mason Crosby, who was standing right behind me, and basically watched the whole thing go down.

Nick Collins - He was really cool too. Him and Tramon seemed really tight

And another completely random time, I was with my dad and we had to go to Green Bay for some reason I don't even remember why. But we decided to stop at Lambeau because why the hell not, and at the gift shop Bart Starr was there shooting a commercial. He was on a break or something he wasn't busy and we stopped and talked to him. Real nice guy.

Favre in 1997...I was touring Lambeau and he drove by in his 4x4, got out, and shook hands with folks.

William Henderson several times when I was working at Mayfair...nice guy.

Robert Brooks once signed a poster for me...kind of stern but nice overall.

I can't remember anyone else. I've met lots of NBA and MLB folk but not too many Packer people.

Being in GB area I see them out time to time. Im 27 and really dont get a huge kick out of meeting them or anything. In most cases Id rather not b/c they are asses and then its hard to root for him.

When I wad young I met Brian Noble, decent guy but was short with autograph seekers for event. Ive seen Collins, James Jones, Barnett, etc out in town. My fiance used to work part time with Packers and has been out with some. She is actually a distant cousin of Tausch and Ive heard from many he is an ass. Maybe just depends on his mood.

I met Tauscher once after a Brewers game. He was drunk with a bunch of friends and they were playing soccer with a smashed up milk carton in the parking lot.

I was with some friends from Germany and a couple of other people. They saw a Packer game once when they were over here and became big friends. The chick from Germany is a model and she walked right in the middle of the game... Obviously everyone stopped, because she is super hot, and he gave her his autograph.

Then my big, goofy friend went to ask for an autograph and Tauscher just stared at him for a couple of seconds and kept playing.

I met quite a few different Packers but the one I really want to talk about is meeting Reggie White. My mom worked at South Division and he did some special event there. She pulled me out of school to meet him and he specifically went into the office to meet my mom and I. He was so nice.

Never met any Packers (though I have coached at least 20 guys who play or have played in the NBA), but a friend of mine played basketball at Cal while Rodgers was there, and use to party with him on a fairly regular basis. I'll get some stories from him sooner or later and post them here when I do.
