Tough one since McGee finally started boarding again, but I gotta go with Martin. Really helped us seal the deal.

I can't give Martin anything higher than 3rd place. He hit some nice 3's, but for the most part, the game was already decided. It's gotta come down to McGee or Young.

I'd go with McGee. He grabbed every defensive board in the first half and did a nice job of scoring when he had the ball. It's tough to argue with 16 points, 17 boards and 3 blocks. He even had a sweet dish to Blatche.

Young took over the game in the 3rd quarter and put Milwaukee away.

I'm going with McGee also. In my view defensive rebounding is the most important thing for him to be focusing on. 14 defensive rebounds is huge. With his size and athleticism there is no reason for him not to be a good defensive rebounder.

Nick had a big game but nothing that he hasn't done many times this year.

Nice to see Martin come up so big in the end. Hopefully he will get more minutes. I am not a fan of Hinrich at the 2. Some of those minutes should be going to Martin.

When Flip has no choice but to play the right guys this team's pretty decent.

Martin's been the guy all along who should be playing about 20 minutes plus. Javale should play this much every game. The thing the Wizards have needed all along next to Young is a reliable perimeter shooter that can stretch the floor like Cartier. Martin's been hitting the three all along, but hasn't played due to Thornton. I like Al's defense and love that dunk he threw down last game, but Cartier really helps relieve Wall from teams forcing him to shoot his unreliable J and for teams keying on Young.

This team is better when Dray Blatche is not THE MAN.

POTG: 1. McGee (better than Bogut today, trade thread faithful), 2. Young 3. Martin

Honorable mention: Flip Saunders -- For fighting the urge to purge himself of McGee. For letting Kevin Seraphin play through some fouls. For a well-managed ball game. Good coaching!

HM: Wall... When was the last time he shot over 50%...??? Didn't see him being tentative at all, he was aggressive and had a very nice stat-line... Had some great passes to set up his shooters... Played Jennings very well (9-24) on D... Great leadership...

Co sign. It was really refreshing to see our "summer league" team playing together down the stretch. In a tank year, this needs to be the NORM. As a coach, I've always believed that the right combination of players trumps simply the best players. So, having Martin as a complimentary piece is a much better option that Al.

i don't think McGee can play this many minutes consistently. He apparently gets winded pretty easily due to asthma. But the quick hook he gets at times is a little ridiculous given the leeway Blatche gets.

I agree that Martin should get more minutes. If his jumper is off then you can always pull him. But when he is hot from 3 he can be a big help.

By the way, McGee's help defense in the 4th quarter was atrocious. Jennings got into the lane several times after running Wall off a screen, and McGee either failed to rotate at all, or he was extremely slow getting there so that he had no chance of blocking the shot. I've never seen a PG get such wide open layups.

From what I saw of the game I'd say NY. Everytime I switched over from the Gtwn/Cuse game, it was Wall driving the lane passing to Young for an open jumper that he'd nail!

I did watch the last 6 or 7 minutes of the game, once the Hoyas game was over (and ESPN went into hard blackout mode since channel 20 was showing the Duke game locally.) Looked like the Bucks pressure defense was beginning to rattle the Wizards towards the end. They had several turnovers, but the Bucks were unable to knock down shots, the Wizards secured the rebound, and the large lead they had earlier was enough to get the win.

Had some interesting lineups out there each time I checked in. How was the teams execution? Did they look cohesive? Did the Wizards give the Bucks some matchup problems?

(I was absent when the Wiz must have built their largest lead.)

It wasn't that great. Mostly, they made their jumpers, which I suppose is no easy feat against a stout defensive team like Milwaukee. And mostly, Milwaukee missed their jumpers.

If the Wizards should be praised for anything, it's that they didn't let Jennings kill them on the pick-and-roll, and they controlled the defensive glass (until the 4th quarter). But overall, it wasn't that the Wizards played better than the Bucks. It was the Bucks playing even worse than the Wizards.

* For the game. The Bucks were on a b2b with Jennings and Salmons back coming off-of injuries - Jennings through-up a ton of bricks. Wizard-killers Gooden & Boykins didn't play much or not at all. Dooling was quiet unlike the last time we played...didn't have Boykins to set him up.

The Bucks have put-up under 80 points in 3 out of there last 5 games. The Bucks just look out-of-sorts of-late.

It's also very hard to look at what Blake Griffin is doing in LA and not wish that maybe we got the #1 pick a year too late. I never imagined Griffin to be the player that he is, but mostly he is tearing the league apart the way that many (myself included) thought Wall would. John has struggled and the team is putrid (and winless on the road). If they could ever put together a decent streak of wins, I think many (myself included) would come around.

To be fair, Griffin isn't really a rookie since he technically entered the NBA last year. I know I know he was hurt and out all year, but I think being able to sit on the bench for a year and slowly acclimate yourself to the grueling day to day lifestyle of an NBA player gives him a big leg up. I don't think Griffin would have been this good last year as a "true" rookie.

Wall will be a beast. His biggest flaw is his shooting, which is coachable. The turnovers will go down in time naturally as he gets more experience. His rookie #s are pretty much on par with Derrick Rose and Chris Paul and actually better than Deron Williams's(and Williams played college ball for three years).

We've already got Wall's SG running mate in Young, now we need a legit inside presence. Time to pray for Jared Sullinger...
