Re: Lakers Prelim. Talks With Nuggets
Melo for Bynum might have improved the team... I don't know... It would really come down to how we utilized him and what matchups we could exploit.
We'd be more geared toward matching up with teams like the Heat and the other 'new-aged' perimeter heavy teams...
And it'd be almost an admission that we no longer thing we can compete with the Celtics length/front court depth.
Personally, I don't think we're there yet and I think with Ratliff coming back, our front-court looks pretty good.
We need a boost at the guard spots. And there should be some reasonable options out there for that.
While I don't think Bynum is more valuable than Melo, I think trading him would almost be like throwing in the towel on this season. I don't think we're there yet. We need a tweek or 2. Not a revamp.
I almost think Howard is the only player we'd trade Bynum for in the middle of the season. Just because it would mean such a big change to our lineup and how we do things if we didn't bring in a legit post player in return.

phil jackson said the only trade he'd be open to is a straight up character for melo trade, and he told character that too.

WTF!? EsPN is all over the place!!!
This doesn't mean much.....if anything he's really saying "hey Knicks, step up the offer I really wanna get out of here"
You think this man would let so much go on for this long only to resign with Denver?

I think you'd be surprised how much players support other players when it's about getting paid/extended, and how quickly fans forgive and forget when they're winning.

You think this man would let so much go on for this long only to resign with Denver?Too much chemistry is lost between Denver & Melo from his teammates to the FO and fans. He's out of Denver no matter what. Knicks don't have to do **** but wait it out til deadline. They still have leverage.
i think the fact that the knicks are playing hardball is what is making melo rethink his stance. i mean, sure the knicks don't have to do anything, but by not doing anything they're essentially telling melo "we'd rather have you sacrifice tons of money and an extra yr on your deal than give up some role player". if i'm melo, thats not the message i want to hear from a team that could have me right now if they wanted to and all it would take is some role players.

Re: Lakers Prelim. Talks With Nuggets
but if they loose some role players like Gallanari he wont have anyone to play with. Thats the argument I hear. Knicks would be mediocre for awhile. However if he goes in free agency the team is intact and are legit playoff team in the east still. Pay to play! LOL!
