and it costs Mini nothing too since Curry is paid up to 3 mil remaining and we can add 3mil to the trade

its not sexy in a press conference but its good money management in a small market

Not sure if posted but here's an article on melo and nuggets from Marc Stein

3." Irrespective of how serious or not L.A. is about a potential Andrew Bynum-for-Melo swap -- and despite Melo’s well-chronicled bond with Kobe Bryant -- one source close to the process maintains that one reason Anthony is lukewarm about the prospect of going to Lakers is because he doesn’t want to move even farther away from his family on the East Coast than he is now."

I think Kosmo posted in one of the Melo threads that it was actually accurate. So, Curry got paid upfront but if he has been paid for more games than have been played the T-Wolves have to give that money back to the Knicks or it counts as cash considerations. Basically the CBA doesn't allow a team to pre-pay for a player to be traded. So it would cost Minny some dollars, which is why they get Randolph + cash. -Jitpal

Nice job, Mags. I love how teams with worse records than ours like to take shots at us. I specifically love the fact that the guy named johnwall said that we suck right now, so why would Melo want to come here

Yes it costs them, but adding Brewer (or Telfair) to the deal would make the cost almost zero with the three million added to the deal.

douglas a better fit here than landry? hahaha

Steve Nash to New York (The Trade)

It's gotta happen, right? The Knicks reunite Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Mike D'Antoni, and the Suns get to jump-start the inevitable rebuilding process with younger players and cap relief. And despite their insistence to the contrary, this is the right move for the Suns; whether they can bring themselves to do it is another question.

The deal I'm proposing sends Nash, Grant Hill and Josh Childress' toxic contract to New York for Landry Fields, Anthony Randolph, Wilson Chandler and the expiring contracts of Kelenna Azubuike and Eddy Curry.

New York gives up some youth in the process, but the Knicks will also immediately become the top free-agent target for any veteran shooter, meaning they'll be able to fill the holes relatively easily. New York could put Toney Douglas into the trade instead of Fields, but given how the Knicks would want to play Douglas might be the better fit.

Phoenix, meanwhile, would be under the cap next year even after re-signing restricted free agent Chandler (presuming the Suns cut Vince Carter) and would have a wild-card power forward prospect in Randolph. New York would also send money-hungry Suns owner Robert Sarver the maximum $3 million permitted in trades, which should help ease the box-office sting from trading the franchise's most popular player.

I think after his sister died, there is a stronger sense of urgency to go back to the east coast.

That trade essentially turns us into Phoenix East almost completely. Sub Jason Rich/Joe Johnson with Gallinari.

I live in Baltimore half the year. His family is rarely seen. Even prior to his sister's death. Last year and before, that wasn't the case. His mom spent most of the summer in LA. I wouldn't be surprised if she moved out there fulltime after the tragedy.

You may be right but you also have to consider his wife. She wants to pursue her career in NY and has family here. Sure Melo will barely see his family but Lala will be around all year.

Hi Guys, remember me...

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... Jeff_Green

A number of teams are interested in Thunder forward Jeff Green, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Green.

"He's got a lot of value. A number of teams are interested. The Thunder are going to need a big man though ... that's what they're hunting for. There aren't a lot of them available right now," Ford wrote in a chat.

Still doesn't equate to you wanting to Trade Ronny Turiaf for Jeff Green.

That's like me saying: Hey, lets make a Trade of Curry for Melo a week before the Melo news breaks.

If you know something then when do you expect Melo to be a Knick? This weekend? Next week?

As I mentioned in my earlier posts, Denver will rather take their chances and hope melo does not walk. They will not accept this proposed 3-way deal any get raped out of it. NY will have to take on salary to get this done. Denver wants to shed salary and get picks. Yes it hurts the chances for CP3 or D-Will in 2012, but who knows about the 2011 CBA.

What if there is a franchise tag? I'm pretty sure the NBA wants to prevent more super teams forming up.

Return to New York Knicks
