I don't think there's any way the Isles give up Tambellini for Blake. The Isles do have some pretty underrated prospects such as Rhett Rakhshani and Blake Comeau

Robin Figrin is also a good one.

Ya I agree but always an optimist, shoot high LOL...

It seems that Sutton is injured and may not return for 4-6 weeks, if they want to stay in the hunt, they just may put an offer on the table for McCabe and Blake that will include Okposo and more perhaps Rakhshani and Comeau no draft picks but clears a lot of cap...

I would like to see, what offer Fletcher tabled, that they balk at, with Sutton out they may take it and run...

theres a Ducks poster over at HFboards who says there is a deal on the table for Mats to get traded to Anaheim but its just in Mats hands right now if he will waive his no trade clause or not. This same poster called the Weight for Macdonald trade a full day before it happened.

I was thinking that if Mats waives his NTC then the rest will follow suit like rats deserting a sinking ship. 8)

Fan 590 "Sundin has opened the doors for a trade". (just before the 20/20 update)

the said cores of the trade according to this poster

Sundin+ for Bobby Ryan+

what we add on our end will most likely determine if the Edmonton pick comes back along Ryan. Sundin+ Antropov for Bobby Ryan+ Edmontons pick seems fair.

Andy Strickland from Hockeybuzz mentions a TOR/San Jose trade being discussed:

Sundin + Kaberle

For

Marleau + Earhoff + Bernier + 2nd round pick

I'm not positive but I think Bernier was who San Jose took with our pick they got in the Owen Nolan trade. Earhoff is a decent D prospect and Marleau is having a bad year but a great player. We'll see.

I think Cliff has to get creative and start looking at possibly using a pick or lesser prospect to move a player like Blake. Anything later than a third rounder could be used. If we can't get guys to waive their no trade clauses, then this should be the next step. Better to have some flexiblity than to just sit still. Again, this flexibility doesn't have to be used right away.

Dan Boyle re-signs with the Lightning all but guaranteeing that Richards will be moved by tomorrow. Clearly the Lightning will get a nice package for him.

Too bad the Leafs don't seem to be in a position to make a move on him. If we could get him, hang on to our pick in this year's draft we'd be in a nice position heading into next season.

Rumours thread is probably the best place to post this rumour I heard:
The brother of a friend of mine used to work for the Leafs' training staff and is still tight with some of the players.
He said his brother told him Mats is seriously thinking of signing with a different team (likes Florida a lot as a good young team for some reason apparently).
Apparently Sundin is very angry with the way everything went down with the Leafs this year (he said he wouldn't go, they still pressed him for weeks).

That would be the strangest thing for him to leave and sign with one of the worst teams in the league who have almost no chance of winning a cup in Mats remaining time in the NHL.

I cannot wait for Tucker to be gone. I will truly celebrate. NHL playoffs in full swing and he and his agent are shooting their mouths off in the press.

He has no sense whatsoever and his agent should know better.

If Sundin does sign with another team I hope we go into full tank mode next season and aim to get one of Tavares or Hedman in the draft. Then next offseason is when we can add Burke and he will have a ton of assets to play with and work some magic.

The thing is, every Leaf team is going to go out there to win regardless, but I'd love to see our team be nothing but garbage if it means Tavares or Hedman ends up a Leaf. I'm praying we don't end up in the 9-12 spots, fighting for a spot till the last week. That's just crushing to our franchise's development.

Just heard that Fletcher admits he can only rebuild the leafs the way he did the first time.
He's going to announce he's bringing back Garth Butcher, Benoit Hogue, and the lynch pin Sergio Momesso. Ric Nattress is holding out for more money thou.. :D

The McCabe rumors were shot down earlier tonight, after his agent basically said that he would refuse to waive his no trade clause. If they, the leafs, want to get rid of McCabe, they will have to buy him out.

As for Antropov, I'm not really sure about this. If you can get a top 10 for him, sure thing. However, I would try to keep him. Now, if Fletcher can somehow package Kubina + Antropov for a top 10 pick, I'm all for it!

I wouldn't buy McCabe out... mind you I wouldn't buyout Tucker either. If you buy one of them out, the rest of the Muskoka 5 will want one too then you'll never be able to trade em. I would bench McCabe if he became difficult but the NHLPA might step in there.

As for Antropov, his value won't be any higher than it is right now... actually it was a lot higher at the deadline but we chose to sit on our hands. But a 27 year old hulking forward, at 2 million this year is VERY valuable to teams that are not rebuilding... we should be able to get a lot for him... just not as much as at the deadline because he's a UFA next year
