[NY Knicks Trade Thread] - (All Other Threads Locked/Merged)

Post#1 » by magnumt » Thu Feb 10, 2011 10:54 pm

With both outside Visitors and regular Knick Board members alike constantly posting Trades all the time, and with the Feb Trade Deadline right around the Corner...we thought now would be a great time to finally unveil our official Trade Thread.

Trading Randolph for Przybilla would be a great trade, randolph pretty much isnt part of this team so it would be like getting a free starting C that would add much needed toughness and defense.

NY would consider it, but only under the following circumstances IMO:

    1. AFter exhausting most Primary Trading Options (ex: Melo, Iggy, etc).

    2. Only if Turiaf is included (well he'd have to be for Salary matching), but I mean to give NY more Cap Space for 2011.

I'll bite.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=4nkokzb

Knicks get:
Danny Granger

Knicks lose:
Gallinari
Wilson Chandler
Anthony Randolph
Bill Walker
Kelenna Azubuike

Reason for Knicks:
Melo signs extension with the Nuggets, pressure on Donnie swells as we approach the trade deadline and we get Granger instead. In the offseason, we go after some legit big to fill out the starting lineup as CP3/Deron rumors continue to flutter.

Pacers gets:
Jeff Green
Azubuike
Anthony Randolph
Wilson Chandler

Pacers lose:
Danny Granger

Reason:
Team is going nowhere so they're blowing it up and cutting salary. They supposedly covet Anthony Randolph. Jeff Green and Chandler are replacements for Granger and they take their chances on resigning one of the two under the new cheaper CBA agreement.

Thunder get:
Gallinari
Bill Walker

Thunder lose:
Jeff Green

Reason:
Simple upgrade for the Thunder as they may have plateaued with Green in the lineup. Gallinari and Walker gives them more offensive firepower at a cheap price for the playoff run rather than worry about what to do with Green in the offseason.

^I just can't see us making a play for Granger (even with the Indiana connection with Donnie).

I see Granger as a more rugged Joe Johnson, or a super-Wilson Chandler.

As hard as this sounds, if no Melo...I'd rather go after Iggy. I think he'd fit this System better.

Przybilla For Randolph? I'd Hit It

Post#8 » by neuroticomic2 » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:39 am

According to the wiretap, Knicks like Joel.

If AR isn't used in a Melo trade, I'd be all over JP.

Obviously IF a trade like that went down, it would mean the end of a Melo trade, no? As AR is a big piece of the package.

Tho, if the Knicks wre to make a trade like this and sign Melo in the summer, thats a nice Starting five, with Gallo as the sixth man.

Thoughts?

Joel is so overrated on this board. He's a total shell of his former self, he'll still give you like 8 rebounds in 20 minutes but he can hardly get off the floor anymore after that injury.

Turiaf is twice the player Pryz is now, I'd rather play Mozgov more, why give his minutes away to Pryz anyways? Also no point in giving away Randolph for a guy we pretty much have already in Turiaf. Dalembert I'd look into though.

For starters, as for the Przybilla for Randolph swap, that doesn't even come close to working salary wise. You guys would have to throw in Turiaf for contracts to match up. That said, Turiaf and Randolph for Przybilla makes a lot of sense for the Knicks if they are going to go after Melo with cap space instead of through trade.

However, the real reason for this post is that one of the Blazers beat writers was on the radio today talking about the trade and said it was "99% BS" (his exact words). He said while the Blazers like his potential, they don't like the "baggage" that he reportedly brings with him on-and-off-the-court. He wouldn't expand on what that "baggage" was that Randolph would bring, but that it was substantial enough for the Blazers to not be super interested in trading for him.

Thanks for the info. It's been mentioned before about us adding Turiaf to match Salaries. Anywhoo, NY has a few options to move AR to if need be. Including, but not limited to: Minny, Indiana, and Houston.

Ya, I don't expect the Knicks to have a hard time trading Randolph.

It quite irritates me that the Blazers are so comfortable sitting on the sidelines and not taking chances on players. Randolph may or may not have baggage, I don't claim to know, but he's exactly the kind of player the Blazers should be taking a chance on. They need to be dumping old vets with no future on the team (Przybilla, Camby and Miller) to get young players who might be a big piece in the future.

Ugh. Blazers suck.

I got a good feeling that we are getting Melo. I think Walsh is only waiting for the deal breaker and as long as he keeps Fields out of this trade, than I could see us accomplishing something.

Eventually this has the possibility to happen.

Gallo, Chandler, Curry and AR or the pick we get if AR gets traded on a 3-team trade

for Melo and J.R. Smith

If we send out Gallo and Chandler for Melo we should go out and trade for Pietrus. The guy is a great defender, great 3 point shooter, is an expiring, and he's hardly used in Phoenix so I think we can get him cheap.

He has lots of experience playing in the up tempo offense with the GS teams and now PHX, also in Orlando where their system is known for shooting 3s.

Knicks Give:

Anthony Randolph
Ronny Turiaf
Kelenna Azubuike
Andy Rautins

Blazers Give:
Marcus Camby

Doubt they'd do it unless for savings, but w/e. It works cap-wise.
