Agreed. As much as I love and root for Gallo. Keeping Fields would be best for us. Not only would he cost us less money over the next few years (freeing up more cap space for potential other big name FAs) he IS our starting SG and without him we would have a hole there. Right now I am ALL for trading Chandler and Gallo to get Melo.

Knicker23 wrote:Hahn mentioned he thinks Gallo would be the one likely to be added (and perhaps not Fields) if it came down to the wire and Denver wasn't flinching... which makes sense. Gotta give them something, holding onto Fields and losing Gallo (who would be a bench player right?) would be tough, but definitely worth getting Melo right now.

Wow, Idk how you would trade Gallo before Fields, yeah Gallo would be coming off the bench but you would think his upside is way more valuable than Fields.

Here is the thing with Gallo and Fields. If the Nuggets say "add Fields and we agree to the deal" or "add Gallo and we agree to the deal" you probably have to do it. The key is not to add them, have Denver rebuff you and then have to add the third to get the deal done. -Jitpal

There's pros and cons to both. Gallo probably has a higher upside but we're going to have ZERO problem scoring with how our team would look. Fields is a hustle/intangible guy that aren't really a dime a dozen nowadays. You need players like him for the core of a contending team.

but if Denver came to you and said ok done deal if you include one of Gallo/Fields, who do you include?

Here is a question:

If you were the GM, and had a top 10 pick, and both Fields and Gallo were on the board, who do you take?

Bingo.

SAS's whole premise is that one of Gallo/Fields added to the deal gets Melo. If that's accurate, I don't see how it doesn't get done eventually, but Donnie ain't showing his cards this soon. If he does, Nuggets will just treat them like NJ and keep trying to extract more.

I include Fields and take out AR. They want the players, they don't get the cash. they can take Eddy, Chandler and Fields.

Read my mind. You dont draft based on need and you dont keep players based on need. We're a long ways away from contending folks. You keep whoever it is you think will be the better player and fill in the rest later. If you think Gallo is that guy then so be it. If you think Fields is then cool. But dont choose on need, especially because whoever we choose could be used as an asset in another trade.

Hahn said that, and most people would agree, because it would be Gallo who would get the deal done... not a matter of wanting to hold onto Fields... the way gallo is playing of late, Denver would probably be satisfied with him being put in as the final offer..... and at the end of the day, it isn't who is better between Gallo and Fields.... it's who would fit better with Melo... perhaps Fields? It's debatable.

If we do Gallo/ Chandler/ Filler I could live with it while still holding onto Ar/Fields

I know, we have no need for Minny's cap room if we are giving up Chandler and Fields.

If I have to include Gallo, I want a rotation player back with Melo. Otherwise, I give up Fields. -Jitpal
