I just don't think people realize how effective our offense could be with Amare and Melo on the floor. The mere fact that most teams acknowledge that they cannot guard them 1 on 1 should tell you something. By them being double and triple teamed, will open up the floor for others to step up. I get the feeling that most people on this board stare all day at an assist # and feel as though that is the only explanation for making people better. To me a player makes people better by giving them opportunities to expand their game. If you do not think Amare and Melo could do that I honestly feel so bad for you. I have pointed this out many times. The 51 games we have played so far mean nothing. It is all about the playoffs. Look at the Boston and LA game tonight for example, it was a half court game (If you watch playoff basketball you will realize this is what a make up of a good team is) and the fact that you need players to take people off the dribble and demand attention. Trust me, I do not think Amare and Melo is the answer, it is simply a means of operation in an assembly line of moves that eventually points to MSG bringing home a title.

Gallo has more value to this team (MDA) while Fields is the better fit as he, Melo and Amare are a more traditional 2, 3 and 4. Wilson may be the best all-around talent of the 3 but his RFA status makes him the easiest expendable. If we get back Free Candy then Gallo's role is as the dude waiting behind the three point line. By way of default, as much as I love his talent and swag, Gallo is the odd man out.

i think the discussion needs to switch from how much is too much to which 2 of the 3 would give up (b/c thats whats fair, enough of these lowball offers )

I mean, that LAL radio guy on first and 10 hit on the head the other day, this is carmelo anthony, not a bag of chips

Not sure if Denver is interested in Fields b/c of Afflalo but if they are then Chandler and Fields.

We can always find a good role player like Fields to play alittle defense, grab some boards, and hustle. I rather keep Gallo. He is only 22, 6"10, great potential and would make the perfect 6th man.

Chandler, Fields, Curry, Randolph (or pick).

I know Donnie isn't going to act any differently now than he did a week ago, but IF Denver would do a deal for any of the 2/3 right now you pull the trigger....no posturing anymore for holding out and eventually giving in, if they will do it, offer and get it done..... Priority one is getting Melo (rationally)... priority two is holding onto what we can.

SO what did I miss that makes everyone suddenly think it's a good idea to pay more than we have to for a guy who wants to come here? Any other viable deals out there for Denver?

Ok.
But what does Donnie do if Uriji says, "we'll get back to you".
Then Uriji floats to the media "Donnie: Would trade Gallo and Fields for Melo".
All of a sudden, all the Knick-hater teams step up with their best offers to trump our's because our guys aren't viewed as "pieces", they have draft picks and Denver's brass can win the press conference by not dealing Melo to the evil Knicks. Our guys start getting more affected and now we slip out the 6th spot to maybe 9th. Uriji calls and says "I want all 3".
Somewhere "The Rebel'" smiles that good smile. And we lose.
That ain't good poker.
In the Donfather we trust.
But Melo's comments definitely reek of a decision being made, one way or another regarding his future with or w/out the Nuggets.

Affalo sounded like he has paying homage....maybe I'm reading into this too much.

I don't think you are... I felt more of a "goodbye"...

Knicker23 said: That game seems like it would be a pretty poetic sendoff game for Melo.... he helps them get back into it, but fouls out and it's Affalo who hits the game winner...take that and run with it Denver, Affalo the new centerpiece.

I think you nailed it here. I was thinking the same thing. The Torch was passed to Affalo.

You continue to miss the point. We don't have to give up 2 of 3. 24 million that expires in 13 days is HUGE value based on the CONTEXT of the situation.

@ Kneega: that was what I meant. It seemed befitting of a final home game. Like goodbye.

Notice how I said 2 of the 3 and didn't mention a name? Why can't it be that I prefer to trade Fields and Chandler instead of Gallo? You're not a mind reader. Be who you are and try to improve on that. Don't pretend to be someone you're not.

Come on mayn....all youve shown in the past few months that Ive seen u post is Gallo hate. Now Im not saying hes a future star or beyond criticism but your Gallo hate has been well documented by many a poster on this board.

And for the record if I had to choose between 2 out of the 3 Id choose Gallo and Chandler to go because Fields can play the 2 legit and Gallo cant but Im greedy and I want to keep Gallo and Fields.

After this game Denver would want 2 of the 3 , curry, a first round pick and for us to take on harrington's contract...
the leverage has shifted to their side...

Spoken like someone who has no idea how leverage works

But I've already admitted to disliking Gallinari, on the constant basis. If I wanted to make a hate post towards Gallinari, I wouldn't hide it by not saying his name.

And if you would trade Gallo and Chandler if 2 of the 3 was necessary, what was the point of calling me out? Unnecessary argument is what you was looking forward to?

We just need to wait till the trading deadline. The Laker rumor just fell apart why should we be giving up more now? Untill Denver has something real on the table from a team Melo would be willing to extend with we need to stick to our original offer. If we need to throw in Gallo or Feilds at the last minute, then so be it. But who's to say Denver wouldn't want more than that? I'm pretty sure Melo's gonna play out the rest of the season in denver then sign with us next year.

I shouldve clarified myself....I said if I had to Gallo weould be the odd man out but I would trade 2 out of the 3 if another asset came back...future protected 1st rnd pick or someone like Birdman. But bottom line is Denver is dealing from a position of weakness so theres no need to capitulate to them. And there's no need to be subliminal about your motives we all know that u meant Chandler and Gallo would go in a Melo trade. Maybe if u havent already been called out as a Gallo hater u wouldnt be so defensive in your posts here.

We have in reality a 2nd yr player {who missed most of his rookie season} whose averaging 16 ppg as a 3rd/4th option and gets to the line 7 times a game and u wanna trade him as a throw in, I and most of this board are smart enough to recognize this guy at the very least is a 30 mpg 6th man who can punish teams with instant offense.

Lets be totaly honest about gallo he is a good player but he is not a player who is ever going to be at elite level or a all star player. If or when carmelo comes here what postion will gallo play because he can't play shooting guard and he defiently can't play power foward. There is no room for him to be on this team i know its hard for people accept the fact you might have to loose a gallo but this carmelo its once life time type player.

So Gallo can't be a supersub like Manu? You are telling me Gallo can never reach Manu's level?

We cant be honest about gallo here on this board. Its not allowed. You can try. But self proclaimed geniuses will break out complex mathematical formulas to support their argument. Then make fun of you and tell you that you are not smart enough to understand.
