How do you know that for sure?I'm not sold on Brown being a team player and wanting glory(championships)over more lucrative offers and more money....he accepted the offer this past offseason from the Lakers simply because nobody wanted to offer more than 3 mil/year(IIRC Indiana offered him that much)....If he got an offer of 4-5 mil/year I'm sure he would've taken it

And playing for the Lakers in the playoffs(where the rotations are shortened and the core players see more minutes, especially Kobe, whose minutes are being kept down so that he can be fresh for the games that really matter,so I'll be surprised and pissed if he saw less than 40 mins a night). I'd be surprised if he saw more than 15 mins a night ....and in 10-15,there's not much he can do,he can't really showcase himself and the odds of getting a good contract become very slim

On the other side,if he accepts the trade,he will for sure see at least 25 min a night and has a good chance of being the starter at SG for Memphis(if not the scorer of the bench)....he can put some points on the board and if he averages 12-13 pts a game I think a team will take a chance on him and offer him at least a Blake type contract(4 years 16 mil, maybe more)

My point is,from a financial standpoint,it's in his best interest to accept the trade if Mitch pulls the trigger(better odds of getting a good contract than with the Lakers)

Devin Harris?

I know he's fragile but we have to do something with our back court. If I remember correctly didn't we talk to NJ about him last year at the trade deadline? We have to start thinking about getting some younger legs on the squad!

Philadephia saves a bunch of money and lets their young guys get lots of run.

Warriors get a great "center" for their system, a nice PG compliment to Ellis, and some moxy with Artest.

Lakers get a solid backup big, and athletic, defensive SF, and solid shooting PG.

WHY???

The Sixers save like 25 million, not including any luxury taxes.

They also already have two guys on their roster who can fill in for Brand and Iguodala in Speights and Turner.

A losing team saving 25 million and giving their young guys the minutes to grow sounds like a win-win to me ... but to each's own.

Best Melo Trade Scenario

Post#1366 » by trdsol23 » Sun Feb 6, 2011 7:57 am

I think this deal would make the most sense for all teams:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=46zmoux

Lakers get Melo and a 7 footer in return. However, in order for Denver to do the trade, they must take on Harrington's horrendous contract. Thabeet is also a bust so far, but Memphis hasn't given him a go really... Henry helps fill the void for Brown's departure. Henry also improves size at the 2 guard, he's a legit 6-6, 6-7 guy.

Denver does this trade because they get rid of Harrington's horrendous contract and get a promising small forward in Webster. They have a good young core to rebuild with now: lawson, affalo, webster, mayo, bynum. That's a pretty good start to rebuilding.

Minnesota does this trade because Rambis is in dire need of players that can run the triangle. Rambis has always raved about Walton, Brown sweetens the deal. With the recent development of Wesley Johnson, they may be inclined to move Webster to get veteran leadership.

Memphis does this trade because both Mayo and Thabeet make 9+mil to warm the bench. Both are not in the rotation. Wallace might be a cheapskate, but I bet he's more willing to pay for two serviceable players than two bench warmers. Andersen and Artest gives them legitimate backups for Gay and Gasol along with veteran leadership. They also improve defensively. Their goal is to make the playoffs this year and I'm not convinced they'll be able to do that this season. They are currently hanging on the the 8th seed. Mayo's trade value is also at a all time low with his recent problems and not attracting any good offers.

whats the incentive for Memphis? they're not going to trade Mayo and Thabeet for anything but good draft picks or young talent, they dont get either in this trade, and you took away both of their young shooting guards.

trdsol23 I understand how awesome it would be to have Melo rocking Purp and Yellow
but let's be real.

Denver ain't trying to help the Lakers in no way EVER.

Melo to Los Angeles ain't happening.

Anyone who trying to get smart and wanna bring up the Clippers ain't feeling me.
Because real bball heads know theirs only one team that represents L.A in the NBA.

No Secret Melo only want to be back in the Big Apple with his other fellow boricuas.

Afflalo or Garcia

Post#1371 » by joe.linnen » Sun Feb 6, 2011 8:23 pm

is there any chance that Denver and Sacremento will let either of them go for Vijacic's TPE and a second? Please Dear God!
I think either one would bet great on our team. I love thier shooting from down town, come play off time they could really come in handy.

SF:Artest/Barnes/Afflalo or Garcia
PF:Gasol/Odom/Artest
C:Bynum/Gasol
SG:Bryant/Brown/Afflalo or Garcia
PG:Fisher/Blake

thats a ten man rotation for he playoffs that would be very nice, having Garcia or Afflalo would open up the floor alot more.

I'm not a fan of Aaron Brooks, he's a terrible defender and if his shot is off he's useless.

^^^If you mean the Hinrich from 5yrs ago, sure....but if we're talking bout current Hinirich, we're better off with Blake.....Hinrich is a poor shooter, his defense has declined as well, he isn't the defender that you are giving him credit for anymore. On clublakers someone posted Blake/Hinrich stats over the last 3 yrs, they are nearly identical except Blake has better fg%, Blake # is down because #1 he's a backup now and #2, he obviously still learning the Tri. Bring in Hinrich now he'll look no better maybe worse then Blake is now.

Yes, a dream but..

Lakers out: Artest, Walton, Both Rookies, $6 mil, All picks Available

Lakers in : Melo

Denver Out: Melo
Denver in : Artest, Both Rookies, $3 mil, Lakers Picks, 2nd round min pick

Min Out: TPE, 2nd round min pick + $3mil
Min In : Walton (vet experience for Rambis)

Next
Lakers Out : TPE
Lakers in: Birdman

Denver out: Birdman
Denver in : TPE

Denver saves.. 26 mil in cap and luxury, replace their SF, add 3 picks, plus add 3 mil to pay for artest plus rookie they want, plus a potential good rookie

Lakers basically pay a ton of money but get away with the melo with losing bynum, i know we dont have to take birdman sine we still have bynum but if denver wants to do we'll do it for them to save more money..

We have a line up that basically send us to final and win against any team..
Lakers

PG: Fisher/ Blake
SG: Kobe/ Brown
SF: Melo/ Barnes
PF: Pau/ Odom/ Birdman
C: Bynum/ Ratliff

Min gets their vet plus $3 mil to pay for him but only lose a 2nd round pick

How about a 3 team trade with the Nuggets and the Hawks

Lakers trade:
Andrew Bynum
Shannon Brown
Derrick Caracter
2nd Round Pick

Lakers Get:
Carmelo Anthony
Josh Powell

Nuggets Trade:
Carmelo Anthony
Nene

Nuggets Get:
Andrew Bynum
Jamal Crawford
Derrick Caracter
1st Round Pick
2nd Round Pick

Hawks Trade:
Jamal Crawford
Josh Powell
1st Round Pick

Hawks Get:
Nene
Shannon Brown

Lakers get a bonafide superstar in Melo and a big man to come off the bench who knows the triangle in Powell. Nuggets get a good return for Anthony in Bynum to build around, Crawford who will allow them to compete this year and is a free agent after the season, a young PF in Caracter and draft picks. The Hawks get a good center in Nene to allow Horford to move to his natural position of PF and a SG to replace Crawford in Brown.

After the trade here is our roster:
Fisher/Blake
Kobe/Barnes
Melo/Artest/Walton/Ebanks
Odom/Powell/Smith
Gasol/Ratliff

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
