The stats by both of them are inflated because of the D'Antoni system. At the end of the day, Carmelo Anthony is better than Chandler, Gallinari or Fields. If they have to give up 2 of the 3 to get him I would go for it.
That statement makes me SMH, since no one provides any proof that Mike D's system inflates players stats and what is this statement being based on besides hearsay.
If it's based on Total Offensive Possessions per game, then I can say 9 teams average more TOP's per game then the Knicks, so it's not Mike's D system.

Melo will bring down the same boards as Landry, and anybody over 4'9 can make up for Gallos lack of rebounding.

Some of you are really selling Fields short by attributing his stats and good play to the system. That's poppy cock. The guy is a fantastic hustle player with an all-around game and a high IQ. I don't care what system he's in, he will always be successful in this league based on his skills and not the pace his coach decides to play the game. Stupid. I'm tired of this argument that D'Antoni's system inflates player's stats and glorifies their games. If this system was powerful enough to enhance everyone's play, we'd be dominating the league. Not to mention, we're far from the only team in the league who likes to get out and run, run the pick and roll and shoot 3 pointers.
For the record, I'd give up Gallo and Chandler before I traded Fields and/or Mozgov without blinking and I love all 4 of them. You're trading for one of the top SFs in the game. Better make sure you hold on to your rookie SG and 7 foot rookie center who both have bright futures and fit perfecty in your "system" and roster.

I would not be shocked id deal goes down before the all star game. Knicks brass and Nuggets brass hammer it out in person in a hotel room . Wonder what would happen with Melo in the game itself if that happens

Fields also has some moves. You can already tell he has a nice little post game and some off the dribble game.

With Melo blowing up and Knicks struggling, there is definately more pressure on donnie now. Just hope we don't end up giving too much. My worst fear is donnie caves in and trades fields, gallo and moz for melo.
i do think melo is trying to prove something lately.
melo on fire + ny struggling + ny fans getting antsy at the garden = pendulum swinging back into DEN's favor

Melo scoring points now is going to make him sign a contract extension with the Nuggets? If not, then Denver is not gaining any momentum unless Walsh is panicking. And Walsh doesn't strike me as the type.

Too many people equate stats to value to a team. People need to evaluate a player's skills and potential fit with the new team not whether he will still average 7 rpg or whatever it is he averages. If we just went by stats, the guys up in boston are only middle of the road players then.

Really? Then why is he averaging the same amount of rebounds now that he did at Stanford, and they don't run SSOL there.

Also Melo plays the exact same position as Gallo and Chandler. Chandler will be gone anyway and Gallo will likely get moved to the bench as a 6th man. But Fields can continue to start. Don't underestimate Fields. He was a lucky steal that we should invest in.

Anyone who rather keep Fields over Gallo is crazy.
So what Fields hustles, grabs some boards. You can find these guys for cheap in FA. Why you wouldn't rather keep Gallo, 6"10, 22 yrs old, great potential, perfect 6th man is beyond me.

This is true - to the extent that it can be... At the end of the day, the fact that Melo only really wants to come here and that the deadline is a few games away will always keep most of the momentum with us..... if we were playing good ball though, well above .500, MSG still buzzing each night - we'd be able to get away with playing 'not overly interested' .. even if this is a long term decision being made... the fact that we aren't playing good ball right now and this season is in real jeopardy (we're on the verge of sinking below .500, i'd say that description is accurate) - watching melo play out of his mind and sitting back and saying 'welll we don't want to give you Fields either" makes a little less sense - even in the grand scheme of things.
Melo playing great can only do so much for Denver.. it's not like offers are going to come out of no where because he has a 50 pt game - melo is melo..... but how long before 'the decision' was Miami a contender? There's zero reason to think some team, that Melo may sign with, won't be given a chance to get him with each day that he goes unsigned by us and that the deadline day grows closer and Denver a little more desperate.
