its this simple:

It's the loss of felton vs the loss of either gallo or fields.

Since we would be getting Billups back for 2 years he would be a servicable backup and maybe we could even pry ridnour away from MIN to backup the older billups.

In two years billups huge contract is up and then maybe we can go after paul or williams. This would be best case scenario...plus we still have a lineup of Billups, Fields, Anthony, STAT, Mosgov and Gallo off the bench.

Even if that 22.3 million put him in the black he'd be forking a piece of that over to the government so it's not like he is keeping all that money. I'm sure this guy doesn't have an accountant but a team of accountants and financial officers.

edit:

You could be right but I wouldn't bet money on it. And if this report is true it seems like they have moved beyond financial savings. Plus you have to factor in the value of the Nuggets with and without Melo. Especially, if it's true that he wants to sell.

One "entity" has nothing to do with the "other". That is a fact. I dont care what number of accounts you have. If you have 20 corporations/businesses/partnerships/etc you cannot use one against the other to off set tax concessions/payments/etc. That is a fact.

Come on Johnny, the bottomline here is if you're Kroenke and you know Melo is gone/opting out then Kroenke's 5 year old grand child will pull the trigger on this deal

Duh, almost certainly there is one parent company that owns all the franchises.

edit:

Kroenke is also the owner of Kroenke Sports Enterprises, which includes the Denver Nuggets of the NBA, Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and St. Louis Rams of the NFL. He is also a major shareholder of English football club Arsenal.

Possibly. If so, will be interesting to see what Walsh does.

the time to make the deal was right after njn pulled out and den lost some leverage

but with LAL in the mix, NY struggling, fans getting antsy, dolan making calls, and donnie's option not picked up has swung the pendulum back to DENs favor....donnie will be forced to give up more now. shouldve made a better offer first instead of a offer with C list prospect

how are we going to go after paul or williams if melo and amare have max deals? especially if the CBA does not drastically change?

Ok now onto Knicks related stuff from Bucher:
- Bucher says the game last time influenced the Melo talks. Didn't specify but sounded like they were out.
- Bucher saying the Knicks matter and a lock to make the playoffs.
- Bucher says Chandler is impacted by the trade rumors. Everyone else is just "coming back to earth"
- Bucher says Bynum needs to demonstrate his skill tonight in reference to a Melo deal. As in worth keeping or not.
- Bucher thinks trading after the season or S&T isn't ideal.
- Bucher thinks one of two things happen. Knicks make a deal Denver wants or Denver holds on to him and hopes for Franchise tag. (Really going out on a limb  )
- The hard look comment doesn't mean he's going to stay in Denver
- Bucher says the proposal out there for new CBA is 11 million max per year.
- Doesn't see a deal with the Lakers because he thinks it needs to be bigger with Nene included.

That's it. -JItpal

I assume by "they" you mean the Lakers?

Surprising, since Bucher is the one pushing this HARD at ESPN (Broussard is just trying not to be left out), and is a HUGE Lakers homer.

It's like dealing with a pimp for a girl that obviously doesn't want you and having the pimp keeping askign you for more cash.

if the situation was reversed Id hope my GM would do everything in his power to get the most he can possibly get for my team. Its frustrating for us, but you cant blame Den for at least trying to get something...

no matter what there gunna get raped in the end, and hes just trying to at least get some lube.

pharmcat

cut the garbage

LAL is not in the mix.

If you watched the telecast last night marv said he asked phil jackson himself and his lakers contacts and they said they were not involved and are 100% committed to Bynum.

combine that with the LAL report and Hahn's report...
they are NOT in the sweepstakes.

just stop it. why do you keep pulling this stuff? it's unreal.

I mean honestly, I dont want to see a steady revolving door at the PG for this coach. If we trade felton, then get on the horn with the suns. And bring in the only player proven to make this thing run. And then wait it out and try to get one of the 2 big name PG's.

Felton is better than solid. Yeah he has taken a step back but he fits here. Having him set up those 2 big scorers is a whole new ball game. If you going to throw that away for Billups, then get the one and only guy who ever made this coach look any good.

Part of this has to be about stability. Especially after what we are going through now with these rumors. I would rather give felton a shot to earn his keep. And I see no reason to have to take billups. Keep in mind billups makes 13 + this season. You got to match the numbers on a deal.

And besides, if saving money is the goal for denver, they control Billups option for next season. They can keep him and then cut him loose. Why would they sacrifice young talent in a melo deal, to take felton, and deal billups, a guy they can just let go and save 14 million right away?

And they have Lawson? That makes no sense to me. Unless felton is going to another team in a multi team deal if makes no sense what so ever. Not from a finical stand point, not from a basketball stand point.

i can guarantee you right now it doesnt work.

we wont have enough minimums on this roster to work. stop with the pipedreams. Unless the new CBA allows for contracts to be re-negotiated in good faith paul is not coming.

Ironically, I wonder if it is making Denver play better because they (besides Melo) know to stay together they have to play well. And for Melo he is like "come on Donnie I'm the ****, don't be a homer".
Play time is over.

Yeah I clarified it later. Essentially Bucher was talking about how that game against the Celtics reaffirmed their desire to keep Bynum. First, because Phil Jackson saw that his team had an extra gear for the playoffs and they would be able to compete. Second, Bynum's size was a big part of that. Bucher said that the Lakers weren't in it because of his opinion and what people had told him.

To be honest, who the hell knows now. -Jitpal
