Pro-Rate Schedule?

Post#1 » by shrink » Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:17 pm

Is there is someplace I can get more precise percentages for pro-rating salaries dependant on how far we are into the season?

If not, anyone know off the top of their head what the percentage is on the trade deadline?

Players get paid (12 equal payments) on the 1st and 15th of each month, starting on November 15th.

So, by the trade deadline (Feb 24th), they will have received 7/12 of their yearly salary.

170 days in a season. Work out which day we're on, then divide by 170 and times by the remaining number of days.

Minimum exception is prorated by the entire season length (reduces day by day, this season by 1/170th each day) ...but MLE and so on have a different formula (this season they reduce by 1/170th each day starting Jan 10) ... and for pro-rating traded player salaries between teams, the trade deadline is usually about 2/3 of the way into the season (but for precision you pull out the calendar, add the days, and figure out the percentage).
