The fight was over Deron's failure to study video???

Post#1 » by finnegan » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:38 pm

What a lazy arse! Why didn't Deron just apologize and say he would do better next time?

Lowers my opnion even further!

Wonder what it meant that Deron's "schedule" was also at issue?

No we don't this is Finn.....he ia above such things.....honestly I'm losing respect for sloan in this whole mess....I never realized he was such a bitch that he'd let KOC, Miller, & DWill force him to lie about his reasons for leaving....you would think he'd have some integrity and just tell the truth instead of spouting such obvious lies that at almost 70 yoa he and his even older asst Phill just felt it was time to step down......

No, it was because Sloan wouldn't watch video as a team, which is idiotic.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Sloan was an antique. There were too many areas where the game passed him by and he was too stubborn to change.

Funny thing is Malone is now defending Sloan, when those two had more conflicts than anyone, and Malone even wanted Sloan gone as late as the early 2000's.

Malone's words certainly have reignited all the doubt and speculation. I love Malone but the guy doesn't know any more than anyone else...and his track record of emotional rants doesn't lend him a ton of credibility.

And yeah, I was under the impression that Sloan didn't like watching video. It's the whole "we're not going to change what we do" attitude. I think that may be part of what has hurt us defensively and in the playoffs.

And what's wrong with Deron saying he hates the spotlight? I would too in this situation. Stockton hated it as well.

My only judgment of Deron is going to be how he plays. If he plays like an idiot then all of his words lose their value and become open game for criticism.

Williams and everyone else on the team has the ability to watch as much video as they want. Sloan never told them not to. Video comes in a lot of formats depending on what it's for and who is responsible for breaking it down. In college usually the end of the bench assistant spends the ton of time it takes to edit and compile video. The Jazz have Jeff Sweeney who takes care of a lot of it.

I think Sloan wasn't into watching video as a team or as a part of practice. Individual players on the Jazz have watched a lot of video this year so far.

Watching video as a team isn't a very good option because at any given time at least half the guys are day dreaming about something else.

Some players learn really well from watching video and some don't. Everyone has different learning styles. Some players need to be shown on the court how to do things. So I don't think watching video is the key to improving the Jazz.

Maybe people could just admit that no matter what they will blame deron for sloan's stepping down, quitting, getting fired....whatever you wanna call it....everyone from KOC to Sloan to Miller to DWill has said flat out that it wasn't the case and yet that's not good enough for everyone....honestly I respect Deron more for how he HAS handled this than if he came out simpering and begging for people not to blame him...

Sloan never said the players couldnt watch video. He just didnt want to watch video during practice time, which I have no problem with. If we had guys who want to win they would be at the facility 1 or 2 hrs after practice watching film on their own time.
