Dawn of the Livingston era ??

Did Silas try to send a message to Augustin or he finally realized that Livingston is a better playmaker ?

Total message sent to DJ - which is a great move by Coach Silas. Again he shows he is not scared to go with the hot hand to secure the win.

Livingston is not a better play maker than DJ. He's much better at getting his own mid range shot off but that is about all he has over DJ.

Silas specifically said after the game that Livingston is NOT the starter, DJ is still the starter. It was just a message sent, Liv is not a better playmaker. In fact even when he is having these type games, he is not doing it by any t ype of playmaking ability (atleast not in the traditional meaning of the word). He scores by his midrange game and that is pretty much it. DJ is without a doubt the better talent, he's just on a mega slump and deserved to be bench to have a message sent to him. Now we just hav eto hope that it didn't cripple him...

worried about the fragile ego of dj. lets hope he snaps out of this soon. we have all seen what a depressed and tentative dj looks like and its not pretty.

would still like to see more of liv in sg role. like others have said, even when he is scoring in bunches he isnt really creating much for others. he is however the 2nd best on the team at getting own shot vs halfcourt defense.

DJ has to be able to handle this success for Livingston and the Bobcat victory and by happy. If his ego is damaged and he regresses, that is due to his own shortcomings. He handled sharing time with Ray, I fully expect he will handle this and do fine. He has no option if he wants to play in the NBA. I expect he will play well the next game and this is all behind him. For Charlotte, this just gives the team confidence that they have 2 PG's who can take the team to victory so if one is hot, stay with him that game.

Livingston has a lower assist rate than augustin with a higher turnover rate.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but DJ looked fairly upset on the sidelines last night. I specially remember one camera pan where Carroll is laughing and DJ has this mum "someone stole my candy" face on him.

The guy's extremely talented but if he doesn't have the mental element to get it done, he isn't our solution. It's probably just a slump but this isn't the first time we've seen this from him; Flip Murray and Larry Hughes messed him up last year. If Livingston is starting to do the same thing, then we have a problem.

I saw that too, it was during a timeout and i think Livs sat right next to him and he has the saddest facial expression i've seen from a player in a long time.

He needs to break out his funk ASAP. I still have faith in him as our starting pg....I STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU DJ.

I think there will be a totally different way Coach Silas communicates the message Vs the way Larry Brown communicates the message.

If the result is the same though I think it's pretty obvious the problem more or less lays with DJ though.

^^^^^^^ times a million.

That and the fact we have a head coach who can adjust on the fly.

I really enjoy watching the good DJ. He is not far from being my most favourite player. I guess I will always root for him regardlesss of our success with him, I don't belive he would coast* through games like Crash did sometimes this season so I think there will never be anything taht would change my support for him. Abdul-Rauf lite version.

Edit: * i meant if he would ever suck I think it would be just struggle, aging one day and surely not lack of hustle and not trying.

Over at BCP, Ballwhore said that DJ has been dealing with a sprained left hand the last couple weeks and was getting a 2nd opinion on it. Said it may have a fracture. Explains why his shooting has been off the last couple weeks and with Livingston having a great game the other night, explains why Silas just stayed with Livingston. Apparently Ballwhore is a good friend of DJ's as he has provided some inside info in the past.

If that is the case and it's so bad that it's causing him to play the way he is playing, then he shouldn't be playing. Leave it up to Livingston and Tank to carry the PG duties for a little while and get it right.

Especially with the ASW coming up. If DJ didn't play against the Nets and the Hawks then took tonight and tomorrow night off, he wouldn't have to play again until Feb 22nd which would have given him almost 2 weeks to rest it.
