I don't know if this was posted but they are pretty much claiming ESPN pretty much made up the story about Bynum to Denver for Carmelo. I can't believe this if it is true.

+1. it does not take to long to google.

he basically drafted almost the whole pacers team that made to the finals.

Ok so 20 years ago he was a great executive. Since then that is a sad sad list of draft picks.

you are a joke. there is almost no miss in there.

It's not that I couldn't see it I didn't think it would go through but to make it up is kind of crazy just for ratings I figured that their was some talks between them but wow I mean just for ratings.

The only thing that happened is Denver and LAL had a brief conversation at some point. That was it.

ESPN ran with that, and reported it as if it was imminent, and then trumped up the story in every single one of their shows.

So they didn't make it up in the truest sense, but they exaggerated and embellished the seriousness of it for sure.

Bird
We all know that they blame each other for Indiana failures. Bottom line is donnie was gm. Are you going to tell me he had no say in team decisions?
Wrong. Walsh moved up to CEO, and Bird came on as President of Basketball Ops.

Therefore, this was on Bird. Donnie took a hands-off approach to team building, and let Bird do his thing.

You are reaching here
ok good shot to my chin. Bottom line I like Donnie. I think what he did in Indiana is a tad bit overrated although he did a great job with that early to mid 90's squad. His grade with the Knicks is a big INC. He did a good job getting under the cap although we sacrificed alot. Now hes in year 3 and were 500. Once we signed Amare we went all in to win now. If we dont add Melo we might improve a little next year but were still not anywhere near a contender and we cant wait til the 3rd year af Amare's contract to add a star. Im my opinion were on a 5 year plan and then we have to tear it down and rebuild thru the draft.

Put your money where your mouth is...If we get Melo via trade or FA, you get suspended for 2 months. If not, I'll get mine suspended for 2 months. Deal?

They drafted Bowie because he was a good player in college.

plus they had Drexler already from the draft the year earlier.

No one knew Jordan was going to turn out the way he did.

BTW, Best available was already gone....his was Akeem Olajuwon.

It's always quiet before the storm, so I'm hoping/thinking this deal is going to get done very soon.

I think we as fans need to show the players rumored to be dealt some appreciation on Wednesday. Maybe someone like Knicks742 or someone else with season tickets and will be there Wed. can organize a chant. If a trade happens odds are pretty good that the game against Atl might be the last time Chandler, Fields, or Gallo are ever in a Knicks uniform (unless this goes all the way to the deadline, then the Bucks game is the last game).

Someone should tweet that to one of the beatwriters, maybe get them to hop on that bandwagon too. Even if we all want Melo, I think we all agree that we appreciate what Wilson Chandler and Gallo have brought these past few years as Knicks, and have really loved Fields this year.

No, do it when they come back as visiting players. Two reasons. First, we don't know who is going. The deals keep getting moved around so let's wait. Second, the players are distracted with the rumors as it is. You don't want to remind them that they could be traded tomorrow. You also don't want to let them think the organization is trying to get rid of them so why should the players care if they win or lose. Waiting is better.

Although, I'm really hoping that the deal is done before then so the team can relax and move on. -Jitpal

So to recap what's happened since the leaked deal from Brousard for anyone who doesn't refresh this thread a few hundred times a day. (Let me know if I missed anything)

- Minny says they are a willing participant but they aren't sure the deal can get done.
- Walsh was asked about rumored deal and didn't quite deny it.
- Reports of Dolan calling Kreonke directly about the deal. (Later there was talk that they have spoken multiple times) [Forgot this. Hat Tip to Vallen]
- ESPN Reports the Lakers/Nuggets are involved in a Bynum/Melo swap.
- Lakers refute the ESPN report, not even 30 minutes later.
- Melo says he's going to take a "hard look" at signing the extension.
- SAS Reports that Melo is getting annoyed that the Knicks haven't been able to get this done. He insists that if 2 of the 3 (Chandler, Gallo, Fields) are involved the deal gets done.
- Bucher reports the Nuggets want Chandler, Gallo, Fields, Mozgov in addition to multiple first round picks.
- Amare reportedly texted Melo to hang in there, that the Knicks are doing all they can.
- Melo walks back on the "hard look" comment saying nothing has changed and from the beginning he intended to give Denver a look as free agency approached.

That's about it. Looking at it in list form or as a timeline makes it look like things have been going on but really since the original report from Berger (later confirmed from Broussard) about the Knicks, T-Wolves, and Nuggets there hasn't been much noise of anything. My speculation from that means they are working together to get a deal done. If there were any major roadblocks in the deal, there would be a lot of leaks and things trying to gain leverage from both sides. -Jitpal
