Wonder if this guy is a #1 pick? I am not a Panthers fan, but they could use a dynamic player like this to revive the franchise and fan base. Maybe trade down a few spots?

what session?

Kendall Marshall has played incredibly well ever since being named a starter. He was the only one who played the entire game last night at a high level. There were just way too many missed layups and bunnies.

It doesn't hurt that Seth went **** in the second half and hit just about everything he threw up there (including one where he clearly walked but whatev)

"Incredibly" well? This is like when the announcer said Marshall reminded him of Jason Kidd last night. He's a very good passer, and I'm excited about his future, but I'd like to see him score 10 points in a game before I use the word "incredible." It is pretty amazing indeed to think that he was the only one playing the whole game well, when he shot 3-11 and 3-6 from the line, while Zeller put up 24 and 13 on 10-14 shooting.

The missed layups were not the problem, UNC shot .500 on 2s. The problem was shooting 2-14 on 3s and 59% from the line. They just couldn't do anything if Duke double-teamed on the interior (which they should have done every time). Frankly I'm not sure why every team doesn't just zone us out and wait for the 3s to clank.

The Seth Curry thing doesn't bother me too much... I don't think we're going to see Kyle Singler go 3-17 in the rematch and I'd rather have Curry go off than him. Duke played terribly offensively, the problem is that so did UNC in the second half, and we have them too many second chances after their misses.

Since being named the lone starter, he's racked up 16 assists against Florida State then went to Duke and played 37 minutes all the while having a thorough control of the game from the get-go. He only took one bad shot (the others he missed were great looks that didn't fall). Not to mention he was playing in the toughest gym in the country against a top 5 team and hated rival... as a freshman. I'd say that he played pretty damn good under the circumstances.

Zeller also had something like 14/9 at halftime and just about disappeared in the second half had it not been for the last few possessions when he made some layups. Those layups that I said were missed? I'm speaking directly about the bunny Zeller missed with about 50 seconds left and the good looks that didn't fall for Marshall.

Watching that game last night is a prime example of stats not telling the full story. The passes he was making (full court through traffic right on the money, transition bounce passes right on target, etc.) were all fantastic and frankly, some of the best distribution I've seen in quite some time in a college game.

I think you're looking to excuse the rookie a little bit here. I'm not saying he played horribly, just that "incredible" or "controlled the game" is a bit much. In particular "controlled the game" is a huge stretch considering how completely the team fell apart in the second half. If that's what it looks like when he controls the game, I'll pass.

Zeller's last 3 plays: made layup, missed layup, grabbed o-board, made layup. He also scored the first 4 points of the second half. 14 points in the first, 11 in the second? That's "disappearing?" I think you're reaching, and I'm truly not sure why. Do you not like Zeller? If there's anyone to blame for the loss, it is not him.

Sure, like I said, the passing was good. 6 assists actually is nothing to sneeze at in college, averaging that would make him top 20 in terms of production (though UNC does play a very fast pace). But he chose to take 11 shots, and he missed 8 of them, plus the 3 misses from the line. That constitutes a bad game. If you want to talk about controlling momentum, that wasn't there either, the team was completely out of sorts and made a ton of bad plays. Despite being the point guard, playing all but 3 minutes, it was quite easy to lose track of him.

Do I have high expectations for a freshman with 5 games starting experience? No. Under the circumstances, he played fine. I just don't get the adulation for someone who did his part in an embarrassing collapse.

Anyway, maybe you're right that I shouldn't get too critical of the guard play as a whole, Marshall has a lot of talent and a couple more weeks might make a big difference for him. I still wonder how this team can expect to win anything if nobody can shoot.

I'm looking for some suggestions of what we can name our (soon to be) newly acquired male Boston Terrier pup.

In case you don't know, this is a Boston Terrier:

Good suggestion Sachmo - but I am hoping to bond with the dog and love it, not want to kick the living sh*t out of it every time I see it.

Adopting the cat and calling him "Bob the cat" would have been hilarious.

Gus is nice though, Gus the pup.

Surprisingly no, it doesn't. We had a short lost of names before we met him and then when we met him Gus just seemed to fit him the best.

It's only been a day, but so far he is a total and utter champ. Very relaxed and easy going. Not what you would expect with a 4 month old puppy! He's outstanding with the two Junior Slam's too.
