Time for change...

Post#1 » by FCNATL85 » Sun Feb 13, 2011 6:13 am

ATL/ SAC/ GWS

Marvin/ Zaza/ 2nd for Dalembert and SAC 2nd

Josh S./Teague/ JC2/ ATL 1st/ SAC 2nd for Greene/ Curry/ Gadzuric (ATL may have to throw another pick in there and Thomas :D )

Curry- Bibby
JJ-JC1-Evans
Greene- Evans -Wilkins
Horford-Powell-Gadzuric
Daly- Collins- Gadzuric

much better starting 5, Bibby of the bench and 20M in cap for next year: could resign Daly (3x5), JC1 (4x7) and still have some room to attract a decent FA, either back-ups PF or/and SF.
Thoughts?

Why does "Time for change" mean "Give Players Away"? I have absolutely no care for Dalembert, but at least we don't give up much for him. But Smoove + what amounts to 3 1sts for Curry? Overpay much? Curry doesn't even fill our primary needs on the perimeter as someone to guard the quick PGs. I have no idea why we'd even think on this.

it is not about smoothe for curry but cyrry and greene + 7M of cap with Gadzuric.
Dalembert would not be worse than zaza + marv and would offer 13 M cap next year as well.
Teague and JC2 were late 1st and will not pan out im our system, hence TIME FOR CHANGE.

What about J. Smith + Zaza+ filler or picks for Curry and Biedrins? We get 2 starters and take care of 2 important needs.
GO HAWKS.

Couple of things:
Regardless of whether you think that Teague or JC2 will ever be anything in our system, they're still 1st round picks. A similar deal got LAL Gasol... without the inclusion of an actual good young player like Smoove and you're giving it up for Curry, cap space that we really can't even use (more later), and someone else who I can't even identify (there is no "Greene" on GSW's roster... unless you're saying that he is coming from SAC then it's the most confusing trade post ever). Anyway, If I'm trading Smoove for a PG then I'm making a play for Deron or CP3 - not another D-challenged PG like Curry... 2x so if I'm kicking in 3 1sts. Good prospects are nice and all, but I'd rather a present star if I'm shooting my wad.

2nd, what does $7 mil of cap space really buy us? We could use the MLE, but the team would barely compete for the playoffs, so forth a deep run. If any of our "big 3" is ailing, then the team struggles. Trading away Smoove without getting a star in return will basically ensure that the team won't even be @ our current level, so forth better.

The team isn't looking to change for the worse. At this point, I don't see us selling off our star assets for prospects - especially not in-season. If/When we're going to make a change, look for it to be of the "minor" variety where we yield a pick/prospect for an upgrade. Teague + Zaza for a MLE type C is the type of deal we're looking @... Smoove + other assets + 3 1sts for a prospect, an overrated C, and a decent young PG is not.
