could he help the Hawks out. I would give up anything up of value for him, but I feel the Nets will buy him out after the trade dead line. Then we could sign him.

Why would the Nets buy him out? They wouldn't be saving a significant amount of money by doing so.

If they did, why wouldn't he sign with a Miami or Lakers for the vet minimum over us?

I can see Miami having interest..... but why would the Lakers

Lakers have pretty poor frontcourt depth given Bynum's health.

Bynum - C
Gasol - PF/C
Odom - SF/PF
Ratliff - C (old as hell)
Joe Smith - PF (old as hell)
Caracter - PF (rookie, raw)

In the playoffs, if Bynum's knees give out yet again, you're looking at a Odom/Gasol frontcourt backed with... Smith/Ratliff? Ugh. They'd definitely make a run at Murphy.
