The fact that only Cousins got punished means that he's the one who instigated the "fight". Maybe he just beat the living hell out of Donte Greene. The kings media probably called it a fight to save face for Greene.

1) You keep Cousins and his star potential and hope he gets his head on straight and matures
or
2) You trade him for far lesser pieces, with less potential

The potential word has a way of derailing franchises for decades. Cousins is mentally broken. Don't look at it as trading him for "lesser" pieces. Look at it from the perspective of undergoing chemotherapy before he can do any more damage to the team/franchise than he already has.

Even if he does get his head on straight and mature, he's still a dumb basketball player with no basketball IQ. He'll never be a legit star.

The difference is that most of the time that label is put on young athletic guys who have no skills and/or no idea how to play basketball at the professional level. For Demarcus Cousins, his potential is based on the fact that he is an extremely skilled basketball player with excellent length and size. At only 20 years old he's already one of the better post scorers in the NBA. He can only get better.
