Ron Arest

Post#1 » by kobe808lak » Mon Feb 14, 2011 7:48 pm

Why so terrible? He can't hit open jumpers, can't dribble, jump, make layups. It's embarrassing watching him play offensively. His D has been decent but the other team can play off him completely on the other end and it is really bogging things down.

08-09 17.1 5.2 3.3
09-10 11.0 4.3 3.0
10-11 8.1 3.0 1.9

and 61% FTs...

I feel the same way, he is all the way around terrible on Offense, his D is good but not great. He has no handle at all, how do you make it to this level with zero dribbling skills? Bynum is less likely to turn the ball over off the dribble and that is sad. he can't make a layup but then again neither can Fish or Walton. These three people make me sick every time they hit the court. Just wondering why we wouldn't give ebanks a shot? Or finally put Odom in the starting lineup and put Ron on the bench? Argue if you want but our rotation has lost us plenty of games, there should be no reason to play Walton ever and Ron should welcome a limited role seeing how he is hurting more than helping. And D-freaking Fisher....I just hope the playoffs comes along fast so he can hit a big shot or two to make me forget how bad he is.

I agree I sure hope this is the last yr we have to watch Fisher start at point.. he's having his worst statistical season in ten years..

we are essentially playing 3 on 5 offensively to start the game, Fish/Artest couldn't hit a shot to save their life, even WIDE open ones and both are no exceptionally good at NOT finishing in the paint, I thought Fish was bad at trying finish at the rim but Ron has taken it to a new lvl.

I agree with most of your comments about Ron but lets not forget the guy was carrying the Rockets and Kings getting 20-30 ppg. I saw quite a few of those games his dribbling then was just as good as anyone his size and playing position in the NBA.

But all those things aside I just don't think this is the same guy. On the court he is completely someone else. He is not the Artest that was holding it down while Yao was out. I just cant explain what happened I haven't heard anyone try to explain.

Is it the triangle, is it kobe, is it a health issue? :-?

Ron's tweeting, helping kids with mental health issues, he thinks he's a rapper, his body looks like he's already training for football/boxing, getting speeding tickets for driving fast cars not registered to him, basically his focus is not on basketball. Cali was not a good spot for him at all. He is now completely blinded by the bright lights.

Last year everyone in the league considered his contract as decent for a player of his caliber, he actually took a paycut to play for us, but the worst he plays the worst that 5.something million looks to the league

He may have lost his game, but he hasn't lost his sense of humor...he started spraying unbreakable on himself before Ireland interviewed him.

Nothings working, might as well spray that shi* on everybody.

Simply put, I don't think we are going to be able to survive much longer with Ron Artest as the starting SF, and especially with Luke Walton as his backup.

Ron is just too slow. He doesn't really know what he's doing out there and can't shoot very well, jump, or even stay in front of his man.

I think in hindsight, the Artest signing was in fact a mistake. He had a few good games last year, but I've yet to be impressed with him at all this season, and I can't believe we're anchored to him for 3 more seasons...

I think it's all fine. Wait until Barnes comes back and let Artest come from the bench. I still think that he can pick it up like he did in last years playoffs/finals.

A guy called Wiggy is not going to make that happen. Call him King Wiggins, A-Wolf or whatever.

Artest's Last 10 Games :

MIN PTS FG% REB AST BLK STL PF
30.1 6.7 .338 3.0 1.3 0.6 1.7 1.5

Pure garbage. 6.7 points on 33 percent shooting with 1 assist in 30 minutes on average. That's atrocious! That's just not gonna get it done, period.

Hell, Ebanks had 2 rebounds and 3 points in 5 minutes tonight.

He's not much of a creator in the Lakers system, so I'm not surprised about the 1 assist a game. How you're used is a lot more important than what most people realize.

Personally, I think we'd be better served starting Barnes and bringing Ron-Ron off the bench. It lessens the pressure put on Artest, and Barnes provides better energy.

I've thought that for a while now. S***, at least Matt Barnes can make a layup.
