Denver has more to lose than NY does. Ujiri has more to lose than Walsh does. If they aren't negotiating in good faith, then they are screwing themselves. -Jitpal

I think they're looking to bring the Nets in at the last minute, or to have Melo panic and agree to stay.

Those are their priorities, I just sense, and dealing him to us is a distant back-up option for them.

For the Nets to be involved, Melo has to agree to extend there. It can't be a rental. Too much has been said and done for Melo to be a rental there. I'm not so sure there is enough time for a Melo/Nets meeting to get that hammered out. If Melo panics at this point, I'm not so sure I want him. Say what you will about those 3 in Miami, they didn't panic last minute. Why should Melo?

I'm sure the Nuggets don't want to trade him to NY, but I don't see any better deals out there for Melo. He isn't staying. No team has a better offer on the table. No where for them to go. -Jitpal

What is the basis of your argument? First off we get Carmelo Anthony which is our main objective and then we get Chauncey Billups a proven leader, point guard and a clutch player. Both Felon and Billups contracts end on the same year. In what world is Chauncey Billups a downgrade to Raymond Felton. Give me statistical proof and a valid reason and I will gladly take your opinion into consideration.

Thank you!!!!!!!!! Some Knicks fans are delusional.

Billups is 35 and fading fast.

Ray is 26, entering his prime, and is better than billups was at the same age.

If it want for this 2012 pipedream, this wouldn't even be a question.

You are the delusional one.

Wow. Seriously. That is a big dam lie. That is not even an opinion. Felton will never be the player Billups has been.

It's too late in the year to give this much up for Melo.

Giving up both Wilson and Gallo will be something we regret, trading all of our top contributors minus amare is not wise. Plus as much as Felton bugs me sometimes I wouldn't trade him take on billups who isn't the same player he was in detroit and is prone to chucking 3 just like ray.

Every aspect of his shooting is better than Felton. From three point, to fg, to ft's. The only part of the game that Felton is clearly dominant is assists. And every pg who plays with D'antoni has a chance at getting big assists numbers just look at Chris Duhon.

I have two main issues with trading Felton for Billups:

1. Felton has come out as a leader of this team. It's very difficult to cut off one of the heads of your team and not have overall a sense of discomfort in the rest of the team. Team chemistry is a big concern if we trade one of our leaders.

2. Billups wants to end his career in Denver. It has nothing to do with destination, it's about him staying home. Will he be happy and committed to have a great stint here in NY? Part of me says no.

Those are two huge problems for me.

No lol ... I honestly think that's what is happening. I just don't believe that Denver will choose to deal him to the Knicks. They'd have to be completely forced into it and I don't think Melo is doing that yet.

Recap of Screaming A on Tierney's show:

1) A is scared that NY will blow it.

2) Deal will happen at the 23rd hour.

3) Anthony wants to be a Knicks but is annoyed that the deal hasn't been completed yet.

4) D'Antoni might not want to give up Gallinari.

5) Gallo isn't a scrub but its ridiculous to hold onto him when you can get a face of the franchise like Anthony.

6) Screaming A would trade Gallo, Fields, Fleton, Chandler, Azi, and picks for Anthony. A's argument is every one of those guys are replaceable whereas guys like Anthony come along every once in a while. If you have a chance to get him you get him and find replacements for guys who are just "guys". A also points out that Billups V Felton is a wash and Billups contract expires in 2012 which is the summer of Chris Paul & Deron Williams.

Billups, Melo for Curry, Buike, Gallo, Chandler, 2 1sts (One from AR, one in 14), 2nd rounder, 3 mil

This will be the deal. Billups gets around 20-25 minutes a game.

Knicks can then package Douglas, Walker, 2nd for Mayo...

Karl: Everything Melo Wants Can Get Done With Nuggets
Feb 15, 2011 02:56 AM EST

George Karl was asked about Carmelo Anthony on Monday and shared a sales pitch with the media.

"My big selling point is everything Melo wants, I think we can get done in Denver," Karl said. "We haven't had the cap flexibility, and we'll have that next year. We haven't had a situation where I think we've had maneuverability with our team.

"We have some young players we think are going to be really good and kind of redefining the team. Sometimes I wish he would have chosen to be with us in that challenge and see what happens."

I'd stick with Felton just for the simple fact that we can package him as soon as next year for Deron Williams!
With Billups we can't say the same..

I think you are overestimating the hatred and underestimating rationality here. Just look at Cleveland. After all the hatred the owner put out there, they ended up S&Ting Lebron getting him an extra 20 million for two miserable picks.

If the New York Knicks don't get this done, SAS said it best. There a joke of a franchise and wont be looked at as Serious in years to come. We can replace Gallo, Wilson, Fields. What you cant replace is Carmelo Anthony. If Gallo is holding up this deal. The Knicks are seriously a Joke. And Bye Bye Donnie.

All very persuasive points. Just my gut I guess.

True that time is running out for the Nyets, and true that I don't want Melo if he's the type to get cold feet. Though of course, the Heat Three were not up against this cap rollover, even though it's the most phony scare tactic I've ever seen. But easy for me to say -- I don't have $65M hanging in the balance.

Yeah I mentioned this earlier. He is using past tense. I'm not sure if he might just be referring to him not signing in the summer or not. But it's odd at least.

Return to New York Knicks
