Refuse to paint my face = He doesn't want to get traded.

Tough break homie.

Did anyone else notice his show emotion for the 1st time over the last 2-3 Games (ESPECIALLY in the Nets Game)?

He looked THOROUGHLY pissed-off.

I 100% agree with this and this is why I do not want to trade Felton.

when Melo comes, it throws 2012 out the window. And then what happens when this board has to deal with another Duhon at the point after Billups retires when he gets traded here?

We do have another Duhon here. His name is Felton.

Always tricky trading expiring contracts for essentially expiring contracts.

What if Felton plays well after the trade next season but also realizes that he can probably land with a better "team/ offense" in the off-season's free agency? Wouldn't Utah & NO essentially be in the same position as if they lost DWilliams and CP3 for nothing? NOH's organization is in limbo right now and may not even be in NO come '2012-'13; and the city of Utah/ Salt lake city market is not "desirable" for everyone.
Revolution starts in the mind...

There is a reason why Walsh gave Felton only a two year deal. There is a reason Charlotte did not even make an offer. Walsh understands he is not a long term solution.

But you were reaching saying he was Duhon. Admit that much at least. He's on a whole other tier than Duhon.

Starksfor3 wrote:I wish people would take off the "Melo is a star" glasses and examine his game. He is a dynamite scorer but we need to get him in a reasonable deal for this to be worth it. Again, this is the most I offer:

NY trades:

Felton
Chandler
Randolph
Bukie
Walker
Curry

NY receives:

Melo
Billups

Den trades:

Melo
Billups

Den receives:

Felton
Chandler
Bukie
Brewer
Curry
1st round pick

Minnesota trades:

Brewer
1st or 2nd rounder

Minnesota receives:

Anthony Randolph
Bill Walker

That's about the most reasonable offer I've seen. Maybe throw Al Harrington in for letting us keep 3 of our 4 young starters (Gallo, Fields, Mozzie). To me keeping those 3 is the key to this being a good trade, with those 3 we'd have the pieces to replace Billups with Paul/Deron or the depth to make Amare/Melo work at a title level. Fields is a great glue guy, Mozzie a good fit at the 5 and Gallo would make a great 3rd wheel with Melo and Amar'e since he draws a lot of attention, is a willing and intelligent passer, draws fouls well and can step up and score against tough half court D's when they focus on Amar'e and Melo.

Billups
Fields/Melo
Melo/Gallo
Amar'e/Melo
Mozzie/Amar'e

in the 4th quarter could win a ring next year provided Billups doesn't completely fall apart and we can find a way to rest him during the regular season, I'd let Gallo, Melo and even Fields give running the PnR a shot, that way Billups doesn't have to do as much heavy lifting and can just spot up.

Felton is a lot better than Duhon.

He is more athletic, a better shooter, a better defender, can drive, has a fadeaway jumper from inside the arc that Duhon couldn't even dream of getting off, competently runs an offense and is a very good assist man with minimal turnovers.

They're not in the same league really. Felton is a quality starting point guard. Duhon does not even appear to be a good backup.

But if your point is that Felton has been disappointing since his excellent December, then I'd agree with that.

Putting Felton and Duhon in the same sentence or tier is preposterous. The 2 year deal was obviously because of the free agents available in 2012. Also the Bobcats realized they made a mistake by hyping their own D.J. Augustin to be their PG of the future. Felton was a decent middle of the pack PG last year but now has ascended his game to a higher tier.

yeah and when billups pulls up for a 2 threes every game off the fast break let me know if you change your mind.

you act Felton doesnt take those pull up 3s 3 or 4 times a game aready, he does that al time at the end of the quarters , etc..

and billups is a much better 3 p shooter, so i wouldnt have a problem with it

so those who constantly talk about cp3, deron, dwight. explain how 2012 is feasible.

I'm not arguing that but my guess is we'd have to be over the cap and trade for one of those guys as part of a S&T i.e. Billups + Chandler for CP3.
Play time is over.

$25M to play some meaningful playoff games at MSG says there's no chance he retires.

Of course he is better than Duhon. But not as much as some try to make him out to be. Felton has not been disappointing. He just came back to earth.

Tsk tsk. It's not about what we think of Felton but what his perceived value in the league is. Right now dude is putting up 17 and 9 on a very reasonable contract. He has significant trade value. I understand why some are hesitant to give that up nilly willy...

They were easier on the nets. 3 starters and picks?

Why dont they grant us permission to talk to him? They worried he will ruin it for them?

I dont like it. Denver gets what they want. Melo gets what he wants. And it costs us the most. We give up our highest valued trade chips here.

If thats how it goes down, then thats how it goes down. But I wont be celebrating a victory until I see our team bumrush the east.

Say what you will but at least he got meetings going and we now have Denver's offer, we may have given Denver what they think might be some leverage, but we've gotten things going and as they start dealing more and more with Walsh I expect them to ultimately crack before the deadline unless Dolan has to get involved again.

If no deal gets done before then that's not the worst thing in the world. We could focus on this super-young and inexperienced team and getting them ready to bring playoff ball to the Garden for the first time in years. With that those young players will get a ton better over the summer, especially if they have to step into bigger roles than they will fill if we sign Melo in the summer. Once that's all done, then you start focusing on figuring out a S&T with Denver and having Melo all ready to go on the first day of FA.
