Rather than getting Carmelo whom has nothing wrong with his body and he's in his prime for many years to come and he doesn't have to get into shape like Bynum does.

I just don't get it...

If a Melo for Bynum trade was realistic then sure it would be great for the long run but Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom would not make it to June. Without Bynum Pau and Odom are playing 40+ minutes a night. Without Bynum Phil has played Pau around 45 minutes. There is no way a 7 footer can log those types of minutes for the remainder of the season.

The easiest thing to do on this board is to ride Drew no matter what because someone will side with you. Kobe messes up the theme is "Kobe will be fine" Pau plays like Paussy the theme is "don't say anything until he has a good game" LO messes up the theme is "well he has had a good season" Drew plays well the theme is "ignore it until he plays bad. Drew doesn't play well the theme is "trade him" I'm pretty much done with this topic. I hope Drew gets traded so all the teams can punk us & we don't get back to the Finals so the board can turn into a B*tch fest.

Way too many empty, shallow, "fall-in-line" type comments on this board.

I pride myself on not discriminating, but I think we need to start posting our ages so I when I read something that doesn't make sense from a youngster I can give them a pass. Likewise, when a youngster says something really profound (I'm sure it happens quite often by the way) I can give them their props.

the only thing that we have WITHIN the team that might make a difference, might be BARNES. his speed would possibly ramp it up a bit. we are defensively gettin it handed to us, but with more speed in barnes, maybe that'll make a difference.

secondly, there is a deep canyon between kobe and the second scorer. whoever that individual might be, lamar, pau, somebody, but there does not seem to be a smooth transition if kobes game is off, there is no identity of runnin the game through someone if KOBE is hurt or off. for example, we kick the ball to kobe and he does his thing, scores or dishes. when the ball is in kobes hands, we have identity . . . a kobe identity. after kobe, the others take their time to step it up, or dont step it up, or look to others to step it up. yes, weve got pau, lamar etc..., but no leadership type guy who is willing to take over and score. or take over and dish. or take over and lead.

It's the truth All Hail. This board is really biased against Drew, he can't win. He's played awesome this road trip but he's always the one we need to trade. The "fall in line" answer is always his injuries but its never brought to the fore front that both of his major injuries were caused by his teammates. If anyone can't see what Drew adds to this team their not watching with their eyes. I'm tired. Just not going to speak on it anymore. Manhandles the whole Celtics front lne, gives the best center in the league all he can handle (until they stopped giving him the ball) yet he's who we need to trade. I'm convinced most guys here never played a lick of real ball or this wouldn't be so complicated.

+1, when kobe is off Pau needs to take leadership

Drew is def. not the one to blame. He has played very good ball this road trip

Bynum has played well however, what most people do not realize is that he is our only asset that teams would want outside of gasol and kobe. I do agree that length is our best asset against the contenders of the league but is bynum really not replaceable. I agree that he has loads of potential and when healthy is a beast but health has to be a concern. I do not believe the Lakers can continue to rely on his knees. They should be able to being he is only 23 years old, however, we have to face it he is never going to be healthy an entire season. He reminds me a lot of Yao in the sense that he is loads of potential/talent but injuries will always follow him. Bynum is not the one the blame nor is he the one to that most needs to be traded, however, he is the best asset we have. This is why I think we should roll the dice and see what is out there. If we could get a decent young defensive minded center back and a young talent back we would be set. Personally I'd go for melo but only if it a 3 way with us getting a young proven defensive center back that can come off the bench and give pao a rest. Also I think Odom is no longer a 6th man threat, he seems to play better and with more energy when he starts.

Bynum is definitely a risk ... no question.

I don't have a problem with people who criticize him, i just don't like it when people think myopically (not considering the whole picture or falling in line with the staus quo per se)

NOBODY ON THIS TEAM IS UNTOUCHABLE ... except Kobe.

Gasol and/or Bynum can be replaced. I've been saying that for the last two years, after the first ring, that the Lakers should roll the dice and trade Gasol or Bynum.

I've been in favor of dumping Gasol more because I've felt that he's had more value and would net the Lakers more in return ... I still feel that way, even though Gasol's value is slowly diminishing.

I think with Gasol or Bynum as our starting center with a more than adequate backup center and a legit "star" at PG or SF the Lakers will be fine. Yes, Gasol can play center ya'll. He just needs to be surrounded by physical rebounding types like Odom and "fill-in the blank".

Is it wise to trade Bynum and move Gasol to center full-time without securing a physical backup center as well? Of course not.

But it's also not wise to dump Gasol without securing a dynamic backup center who could start in a pinch if Bynum were to re-injure himself as well.

In the midst of all this debate over "Gasol is too soft" (he is) and "Bynum is too injury prone" (he is), I rest somewhere in the middle. I do feel, however, that one of them should be traded for a combination of a starting caliber big (ie Nene, Brand, Okafur, or Jefferson/Okur) and a dynamic, pass-the-torch youngster who can play with Kobe in the backcourt or on the wing (ie Steph Curry, Deron Williams, Carmelo, Iguodala, or Paul).
