Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
so i kept reading about this fredette kid. you guys know i dont watch college hoops much any longer, but i figured i better check this dude out. i caught about a half of the byu game yesterday. meh, not sure i am sold on him. hard to really form much of an opinion on one half of a career here's what i saw
doesnt seem to be much of a natural playmaker. dominates ball a little too much for my liking. seems to be a tad slow laterally. was getting most of his points driving to rim for layups, but seems that might be tough against nba guards with shotblockers behind. defensively, hard to tell since they were in zone, but he wasnt doing a whole lot to stay in front of his man. seemed to be more interested in avoiding fouls.
of course, that being said, dude still dominated game and ended up with an easy 29.
does he have good midrange game? can he play pg? can he hang defensively?

Hendo could play the three as well, but I would never start him there. He's 6'5"

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
Being from the Charlotte area I got to see a decent bit of Curry both live and on tv. I have watched Fredette a couple times on tv and really see about the same person. Jimmer to me seems quicker and able to create more space to get his shot off. If we took him I would be fine with it. I see him and Curry having a very similar career.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
great news for college hoops fans.
ncaa tourny being televised by cbs this year. games will be shown on cbs, tnt, tbs and trutv. games staggered so that no gaps between games. 12 straight hours of hoops. and now we will have options to watch up to 4 different games at same time. no more having to watch duke blister a 16th seed by 50 pts in the first round when there is a massive upset brewing in another region. great move by all involved. this is long overdue.

He seems like a tiny two guard to me. He'd fit in on the lakers really well. Give the ball up, spot up for a three. Repeat.

Add defend to your line about Sidney
Add has a sensational all round game to your line about Jones
Add that makes Bost and Knight are like Walker.............only better.

Who are Lipscomb and Hofstra and how did he manage to go 0-12 against Minnesota during that stretch?

Add anything that requires physical exertion about Sidney
Add as long as he goes left and doesn't take 3 pointers about Jones
Add "say what?!" because Bost was suspended 5 games for having bad grades and Knight averages more rebounds (4) than assists (3) to those two

Over the last 5 games (not including last night) he played NC State, Boston College, Florida State, Duke, and Clemson. He made at least 7 FG in all of those games except for the loss to Duke (where he went 3-8).

Sorry SWedd, you are right. I was looking at his 1st 5 games, not his last 5.
I still don't think he will be a star though.

Stars are made, essentially, by the league and by perceptions. Though a certain talent level is required not all players who reach it are given star status, and the choice as to whether or not a player will become a star often affects their chances of reaching that skill level.

...well Harrison Barnes has had both the perceptions and the chances. So I don't know what the point is there... either he's going to be good or he's not.

Well the point is that he could probably get there without being top 5 level.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
Derrick Williams is averaging 20ppg for Arizona - which is impressive enough, but then you realize he is doing that on only 9 fga's per game and it pretty much blows your mind!!
To put it into perspective (and I know it's the kids Vs the men) but there are only two guys averaging 20ppg in the NBA (plenty averaging more than 20ppg, but only two averaging 20ppg) and they are Z-Bo and Rudy Gay.
Thing is, Z-Bo needs 17 fga's to get his 20ppg and Rudy needs 16.
Furthermore, there is no scorer in the NBA today from the top 25 (which range from 16ppg - CP3 to 29ppg - KD) that are doing it on single figure fga's per game.
THe closest is Billups who is averaging 17ppg on 11 fga's per game.
