Report: Leafs, in three-year playoff drought, fire Maurice

The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired coach Paul Maurice, TSN of Canada reported, citing unnamed sources.

Maurice, who had one year remaining on a three-year contract, failed to guide the Leafs to the playoffs in his two seasons. The Maple Leafs have missed the Stanley Cup playoffs in three consecutive seasons -- the first time that has happened since 1928.

Assistant coach Randy Ladouceur has also been let go, according to the report.

Finally.

He was absolutely dreadful this past season. Time to start over.

I think it's time for the return of Pat Burns or another coach of his ilk

No surprise there.

Although I'm surprised that Acton has been retained through not one, but two coach firings now
