Richard Hamitlon?

Richard Hamilton will have to be willing to give back a significant portion of the two years, $25 million owed him to get a buyout on his contract

If RIp is bought out I think the Lakers should at least consider trying to sign him. I've honestly have been so fed up with Shannon and we can use some shooting. He would be a good option to go alongside Blake, Barnes, and Odom off the bench. I think Rip would be motivated to play seeing how he hasn't been getting playtime. You know this team could use a little shakeup and a vet like Hamilton would be a nice addition.

RIP would be a WONDERFUL addition to this team, but we should add young legs, rip doesn't do anything for our concerns in a pg or young legs

You really think Rip would give up possibly tens of millions so he can sign the veteran minimum with another team?

I wasn't even thinking of this move as anything more than short term. If we were talking long term than off course I would want youth. I really don't think we are going to make any trades because of the toxic contracts on our team so the signing of a waived player might be the only thing that is even possible for us.

I got to agree with micro I doubt Rip will walk away from the remaining 2 yrs 24m left on his contract. Maybe he'll get a buyout in the summer.

I doubt Detroit eats that kind of salary. And "according to sources" the Celtics are interested in signing Rip as a scorer off the bench. Man oh man Celts would be scary good if that indeed happened.

I'm not as familiar with Rip at this stage of his career. Can someone tell me what his strong suits are, and what he has to offer?

You can throw Chicago in the mix as well. We have an opening in the starting lineup for him.

But its not gonna happen because Rip is not going to just give away his money and Detroit knows they might get something for him since he will be an expiring after next season.

This isn't too bad, but considering - we do need young legs that can play some good solid D.

He would still give up money on the table if he agrees to a buyout this summer... Rip probably won't get brought out until his final year. He is due way too much money to just walk away from it.

It would be nice to add scoring to the bench, however, the Lakers need defense. And if Detroit is having a fire-sale, give me the LA native, Tayshaun Prince.

Scoring-off-the-bench is such a head nodder to me considering the Lakers could use more scoring from the starting line-up. I wish Kobe would recognize that the bigs could use the ball more often. And I don't mean share the ball just in the first half either.

This may not be up to Mitch - with something like this, obviously any team would take him for the vets min. It's all about where Rip wants to go or if some team will offer him enough money for that not to matter. We must bank on the former.
