Blake gets news of his friend dying after game

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 4:23 am

Heard this from Ralph on the radio post-game...he said Blake was in tears in the locker room after the game when he heard this. Really tough news for him...especially at this time before the ASG.

 That's horrible. This should be a time that Blake should be in celebration, but he has to deal with this tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with Blake and his friend's loved ones.

I was surprised to hear the news. Hopefully Blake and his family will be alright and he still has All-Star weekend to look forward to. My prayers and thoughts go to Blake and his family.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Very sad news. Losing a friend is always tough, and can really play with your emotions. Hopefully Blake can recover in time for the ASG, and put on a show, especially for the friend he lost.

Looks like this made it to Yahoo front page news. I wish that this story didn't leak out - It's Blake's personal life.

Holloway's funeral is scheduled for Monday. The team is scheduled to fly to Oklahoma City on Monday for their game on Tuesday. I'd assume that Blake will try to fly out Sunday night. He may be worn out come Tuesday.

Very sad news for Blake hopefully he can get his thoughts together and dedicate the break in honor of his friend.

In an interview with ESPN's Colleen Dominguez, Griffin said he planned to see Holloway on Tuesday when the Clippers play in Oklahoma City, and he had set aside a ticket for him.

Clippers spokesperson Rob Raichlen told ESPNLosAngeles.com Griffin's plans for All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles will not change. He is scheduled to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday and play in the All-Star Game on Sunday.

"It was hard for me to believe because in my mind it was like 'OK, so when he gets better it's going to be all right,'" Griffin said of his friend. "You never think that's going to happen to you or somebody you know or somebody that's that close to you that's your age."

"He was just one of those guys that was so positive," Griffin said. "I never heard him complain once."

There's a short 2 minute video of Blake being interviewed, where he goes into a little more detail.
