a) gallo, fields, curry, ar (1st rounder) for melo, filler (no big contracts, no real talent coming back)

b) chandler, felton, curry, ar (1st rounder) for melo, billups

im sure other little pieces would be going here and there, but this would be the basic idea for either deal...notice the predicament.

B. In this trade the knicks would be loosing nothing. Theyd loose chandler anyway for melo. Curry doesnt play lol...AR is being traded anyway for a first. Billups for felton is fine billups does not mess us up long-term.

According to a Knicks official, Denver wants Raymond Felton, Landry Fields, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari — four of their top six players — for Carmelo Anthony and an aging Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets have also asked about Timofey Mozgov.

The price is too high for the Knicks. It would damage the roster, leaving Anthony and Stoudemire without a supporting cast.

Donnie Walsh, the Knicks’ president, has been willing to part with one top rotation player — Chandler or Gallinari — in addition to Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and a draft pick. The Knicks believe they are dealing from a position of strength, armed with the knowledge that Anthony wants to play in New York and could by signed as a free agent this summer.

dont think id do that..

id do that if it wasnt giving up a 1st rounder/AR.

fields/felton/chandler for melo/billups would work for me if we got to keep AR and maybe developed him.

Asked if he had a deal he could consummate now, Walsh did not hesitate. “None of your business,” he said.

How about:

Knicks get:

Brewer
Telfair
Melo
Billups

Nuggets get:

1st round pick via twolves
2014 1st round pick from knicks (if possible, if not, a couple of 2nd round picks - big difference)
chandler
felton
fields
curry

Twolves get
:

AR
Toney Douglas
Bill Walker

Twolves may not want to give up brewer, may want more...maybe a second round pick might entice them some more...we give up a lot. I would want to hang onto the first round pick, but I if push came to shove, id still do it because im not letting the deal fall through over what should be a late round pick once we do this trade.

Thoughts?

Twolves would never do that trade. But you have the right idea, if you do end up acquiring Chauncey via trade you do need a servicable backup. (Billups can't play 40+ mins in our system a night)

News that was posted in the last thread. Ballboys talking about I dont know what. Johnny come latelys making demands. Trolls taking shots.

The media would not feed people BS is people weren't so hungry for it. I dont even know half the people posting in here. What is the malfunction?

They might...they get 3 guys under reasonable contracts...and they have to be down on brewer...telfair is an expiring contract...Not sure if it is enough depth for the knicks to compete down the stretch after this trade.

Knicks:

Moz
Amare
Melo
Brewer
Billups

Bench: Gallo, Telfair, Williams, Turiaf as the main depth...would need an improvement at sg most likely...and a back up pf, and a real defensive, rebounding center.

From a outsider, the knicks need to do the deal...

they have a chance at a top 5 superstar in the league , who is in his prime and all your giving up is role players , its a no brainier. You cant over value players . The cavs did the exact same thing last trading deadline where they could have got amare but they didnt want to let go of JJ Hickson, .....a star for a role player...its simple

problem is the new cba screws things up...with this trade the knicks tie 40 million between 2 players...we may not have much more room to do anything.

so it would be hard to add players...which is why we want to keep the good ones we have.

so we are trying to keep as many assets as possible to either build around melo and amare, or use to send in a trade for a cp3 or howard.

it would be hard to sign anyone to a "max" contract once we extend melo.

That's one roleplayer. Denver wants our whole starting lineup outside of Amare.

Return to New York Knicks
