Blazers/Nets talking Miller for Harris trade
Link
http://www.northjersey.com/sports/pro_s ... _deal.html
Bullet Points....
*The teams are still talking.
*Nets don't like Harris' play this year and question his commitment to the team after all the previous Melo-drama.
*It won't just be a straight up swap and other players are being discussed.
*Blazers want Morrow.
*Nets want to unload Outlaw (duh) and may have to include picks to get that done.
*Joel could be added if needed.
*Rudy Fernandez has also been mentioned.
*Blazers have been scouting Nets games recently.
*The Nets getting involved with Melo again could put a hold on things if Harris is needed for a trade.
Thoughts?

Combining everything they in the article, a potential deal could look like this.....
Miller
Przybilla
Fernandez
for
Harris
Morrow
Outlaw
1st Round Pick
Portland probably asks for that 2012 GSW pick to be willing to take on Outlaw atrocious deal.

This deal makes me **** cringe and it's probably close to reality, although I don't see Portland taking back Morrow cause it's just an asston of salary with Travesty Outlulz contract.

Why does that deal make you cringe? Miller is just as good as Harris right now and he can be an expiring contract. Rudy Fernandez has been MUCH improved this season, particularly the past month or so, probably not quite as good as Morrow, but certainly not as bad as he had been. I'm guessing Portland wants Morrow if they're trading Fernandez.
Who knows what the deal may end up being once things are said and done, if it even happens though.

I don't necessarily mind if Harris is dealt, but Rudy Fernandez does nothing for me and having to jettison the Warriors pick and Morrow while getting no value for Harris kills me.
I've always been a Dre Miller fan, but he doesn't do much of anything for this team this season, besides being a negative by picking us up an extra senseless win or three and I can't see him being happy being in NJ next season if we pick his option up, especially if we get lucky and wind up with Irving and he's coming off the bench behind a rookie.
Devin is easily the better player, but he seems to have mainly checked out this season at this point and I don't know that I could really blame him.
So Dre is a lose/lose for us. Either he comes here completely pissed and is a cancer in the locker room and on the court, or he picks us up senseless wins by being a better team player then Devin will be after the whole Melo debacle.

Dre is a professional, no way he becomes a cancer or pouts. He might actually make you guys a little better team though. A lot of Blazer fans actually aren't super happy about having to trade him because losing him likely means the teams offense is going to be rocky for awhile and Aldridge's stats will likely dip without Miller's amazing lob passing skills.
I see your points about why you view that trade that way though. It is rough, but I know you understand that if you're asking a team to take on a insane contract like Outlaw's, it's going to cost you. Harris alone hasn't been playing well enough to dump Travis' deal.

Yeah, I'm intrigued by this deal for it's future implications. I don't love it because I feel like we'd be worse this year, but we won't win a title this year anyway. I'm also wary on that GS pick. They seem to be righting the ship and I think next year will be a playoff or near playoff team. I'm like the only person on RealGM who doesn't think the 11-13th pick in the draft is gold. Statistically you get a marginal role player with that pick and It doesn't excite me. And I agree with you on Andre Miller, Harris may be a better basketball player, but Miller is smart, savy, the perfect point guard, his game isn't based on athletecism and he just makes teams better. Look at Philly after he left. Portland would be in the same boat without him.

At this point, we'd rather be the worst team in the league than what you described above. Bring in the ping pong balls...

Wouldn't do that trade if it's the GSW pick and I wouldn't deal Morrow. Fernandez does nothing for the Nets also. Already have 2 or 3 guys just like him.
Outlaw, Harris, LAL or HOU first
for
Dre + Filler
yes Portland absorbs a terrible contract but they get a first round pick and 28 year PG who is an upgrade. Plus Outlaw doesn't have the same negative value to Portland he does with other teams since he was a successful player there at one point and they probably at least consider him useful, though overpaid.
Since Portland probably wouldn't do that trade, I think the best course of action is to wait with Outlaw. Maybe when the roster is eventually upgraded he finds a role on the bench and is at least back to his career norms? If he is playing well and has another year off his deal he will be much more tradeable next year. Maybe we get really lucky and there is a one time buyout clause in the new CBA? Bottomline, unless we are keeping all of our valuable assets, there is no immediate need for cap space to clear his deal so we might as well be patient.

Re: Blazers/Nets talking Miller for Harris trade
From what we've been hearing, any inclusion of Outlaw into this deal is coming totally from New Jersey's side. The Blazers have no interest in taking on his contract, regardless of what pick the Nets may add into the deal.
My guess is if a deal gets made, it's probably going to be a bit smaller. Maybe they take Petro's contract off your hands.

Re: Blazers/Nets talking Miller for Harris trade
I was messing around and wanted to expand on this trade. Here is the link, and below is my breakdown.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=4pccelw
Nets
Outgoing: Harris, Favors, Morrow, Outlaw, Murphy, draft picks
Incoming: Melo, Billups, Roy
Nets instantly become better and can make a good playoff push to end the season, in which they can build on next year. They have there franchise player in Melo, and Billups contract ends the same season that CP3, DWill and Dwight Howard become free agents. I know alot of people here are warded off by Roy's knee problems, but I say take the risk. Hes still only 26 and we know the skills he has.
Billups
Roy
Melo
Hump
Lopez
Blazers
Outgoing: Roy, Miller, Fernandez, Batum, Camby
Incoming: Harris, Outlaw, Morrow, Nene, draft picks
The Blazers get the PG they have been coveting for the past few years as well as a 3 point specialist. They also get a big upgrade at center to compliment LMA. Outlaw has had success in Portland so it would be a good fit for both the team and Trout. Because of their reluctance to move Batum there certainly will have to be some picks going there way. Being that the Nets have 5 in the next 2 years it can certainly be done.
Harris
Mathews
Outlaw
Aldridge
Nene
Nuggets
Outgoing: Melo, Billups, Nene
Incoming: Miller, Favors, Murphy, Fernandez, Batum, Camby, draft picks
The Nuggets get the pieces they wanted instead of losing Melo for nothing in the summer along with financial relief and draft picks. Batum is another name they have been looking at and would fit the role of the shipped out Melo.
Miller
Afflalo
Batum
Martin
Camby
I think Portland is getting the short end of the stick, but I guess it depends on how much they value draft picks. Upgrades at PG and C might not be enough to give up Batum. Im also not convinced they want to keep Roy with his injuries and large contract.

Devin Harris, Johan Petro and Anthony Morrow
for
Andre Miller, Joel Pryzbilla and Rudy Fernandez
I'm all for it and both sides benefit.
The Nets get a passing first point guard, physical center and shooter.
Portland wants to rebuild so they get a younger point guard and the shooting guard they like plus Petro.

Much rather turn this into a three-way to slather the Nets in Mayo.

I have no idea why our front office would even include Morrow in a deal like this.

Take out Morrow and Rudy and I might consider that. Even though we downgrade with Miller he expires just in time for 2012, which is perfect for the CP3 and D-Will free agency.
Then we'd have to figure a way to get rid of Outlaw.
