Re: Ron Arest
If he can play lock down defense or close to it in the playoffs and avg his 8 points per game we should be fine and thats all i would ask of him.

I want this guy gone..Honestly can't stand the guy anymore in stark contrast to how much I liked him last season.

I don't know...I think it's the combination of Phil and Artest not mixing it up.
Also, I don't know if he can play well with Kobe taking the majority of the shots.

You should be required to know how to finish layups if you're in the NBA

Tell that to Fisher.

Re: Ron Arest
he simply does not fit into our style of play, especially with the team as constructed. he'd make a great 2nd option on, lets say, the wolves, kings, and 76ers

When free agency hit I wanted Trevor back mainly because of the long term aspect but I bought into Ron Artest because I didn't think he would struggle this bad. His decline has become very apparent and its hurting our offense.

Cali was not a good spot for him at all. He is now completely blinded by the bright lights.
I agree...Ron has become Hollywood. Before LA, the dude was hungry and was ready to go to war every time he stepped on the court. But ever since coming to LA the atmosphere, it changed him. I dunno if he could ever come back being that Artest of the past, he looks way to comfy chilling and enjoying the life of being a LA star.

Re: Ron Arest
ok ron is not that bad.i played pro ball and found myself in his exact situation.i was fast and a bulk scorer, the team i was on,the coach didn't want to run as much.so i just roted on the bench.i did notice that every time ron wants to do to much, kobes in his ear.
How's this for an almost unbelievable Laker trivia: The Lakers will miss the playoffs this year for the 3rd time since 1976.
Just 3 times in almost 40 years!!!!

Yeah, too bad his dumb ass agent thought he was going to hold Buss's feet to the fire like it was Doc's first time at the ol' rodeo. I think the feeling might be mutual. He was a good fit here, not so much elsewhere. He went back to career journeyman.
And I applauded him for that hit on Rudy F.

Artest was 8-13 (5-6 from 3) last night... I wish he could have games like these on the regular.

lol... but seriously, i like ron.
anyone who has ever been physically covered when off the ball for more than 5 minutes in a hard fought basketball game knows ron artest's worth. it is off the charts... and dude would do that for 80 minutes if need be. he is simply beastin and his opposition's stats speak volumes.
defense is not keeping a guy from getting past you. that's not possible in the nba. it is hard off the ball work, and there is no one better in the leage than ron artest.

Re: Ron Arest
we miss trevor ariza now but if given the chance to go back in time and get ariza i'd rather keep artest, you never know if we'd have won the title last year without artest
but now that OKC got perkins, I think artest's defense on durant is absolutely crucial to beat them in a series
