Get it done Donnie! Trade our whole team to a spiteful Nuggets front office that would rather get nothing for Melo than something! lol ;)

Denver ain't right in the head and we need to get used to the fact that Denver is not serious about doing a deal with us. And Melo needs to come to grips with that reality too.

Nothing Donnie can do about it.

This site makes its coin off b*tching so enough silliness about "sources" and feeding the media. Bottom line is, this is the FIRST time the Knicks have talked about adding a second superstar since their last title 38 years ago.

We ALL remember how far the Knicks went with only one super star Patrick Ewing?

This is history....IF the Knicks can seal the deal.

How do you suggest sealing the deal -- they're asking for EVERY ONE of our best young players.

I'd love to see one or two dedicated people who have the time run a NEWS ONLY thread where they post only tweets, links to stories/rumors and report on interviews on the radio.

NO COMMENTARY...this 100 pages threads of BS is impossible to get through for those of us who are just looking for info while at work once every few hours.

You realize Dolan used to meet with Isiah after every game, right?

This means nothing. At all.

sorry for not posting the source...

first paragraph of fields/gallo factor

This is the worst part:

"the Nuggets believe the pressure from Knicks ownership will force team president Donnie Walsh to include Gallinari or Fields in the final offer."

How does Dolan not realize that the Nuggets are basically using him?

Also, regarding the part about The Anxious Melo Factor, it kind of just occurred to me that if it's true that Melo would really not sign with the Knicks in the off-season (if a trade doesn't go down), then he is holding the Knicks hostage almost as much as he is the Nuggets. He's basically saying "trade for me now, whatever it takes, or you won't get me at all". What's foolish about this is that (a) he's forcing us to give up more in a deal and thereby providing him with a worse team, which also suggests he clearly cares more about money and his ego than winning, and (b) he isn't letting Walsh do his job in building a team; I'm sick of players trying to be GMs.

Then again, the very idea that Melo could turn his back on us in free agency might be completely untrue anyway.

The Knicks management was flabbergasted, according to the league source. They fear such a proposal meant they really didn't want to do a deal with the Knicks. Not much has changed since, though the Knicks believe the Nuggets eventually will soften on taking either Gallinari or Chandler, not both. (Eddy Curry's contract must be included for the cap numbers to work).

"They want everything," the league source said of Denver. "The Knicks didn't even have to sit down and talk about that offer. It's not even logistically possible. They'd have two miserable stars with nothing around them."
The Nuggets feel they can package some of those players in trades for better draft picks.
With the trade deadline seven days away, the Knicks hope to continue talks with the Nuggets. If there's no Knicks deal and Anthony stays in Denver, Walsh probably will try to trade for a center (Jeff Foster, Joel Przbyilla) and wield his salary-cap space this summer for Anthony.
Last night, in a telling remark before the Knicks beat the Hawks 102-90 at the Garden to enter the All-Star Break at 28-26, Walsh said, "At the end of the trade, we have to look at it and say, 'Are we a good basketball team?,' "
Thus far, Denver has made it easy for Walsh to say no.
"Maybe they [the Nuggets] just don't want to do it," the league source said. "Didn't they do that with the Nets? When you keep asking for more until you say no, maybe you don't want to do it. Maybe they want to go to the playoffs with Anthony and call [Carmelo's] bluff on June 30th."

Walsh believes he can land Anthony for no compensation this summer when he's a free agent. Walsh has said repeatedly he's not worried about the new collective bargaining agreement, that if the cap number goes down, so will player's salaries -- so the reduction is proportional.

You can check out the Hoopshype rumors page

A lot of BS still but in the form of rumors from reporters

I noticed this too which is interesting.

One league source insisted the Nuggets hold Fields in higher regard than they do Gallinari,

If thats really the case then the Knicks are screwed.

I dont buy it though. They cant actually expect the Knicks to give into those demands.

Amare's gotta handle this situation and call Melo an tell him to chill a little and let Walsh make a fair proposal.

Dolan's pressure on Walsh to get the deal done is really really killing our chances. If Walsh had no pressure from management he'd probably let the deal pass, but Denver knows that Dolan's gonna force Donnie's hand.

Look's like our 2 options are: Knicks get fleeced or Melo's a Net

In the end, the Knicks remain the only horse in the race. So what is taking so long?

Seriously, Fixers, it's amateur hour out there in Denver. The scariest thing about this deal, I was told by one source, is that it's impossible to know what the Nuggets want to make a deal happen because they don't even know what they want. That's why this thing is destined to go all the way to the deadline. Perhaps once they're pressed to make a decision, they'll be able to make one. If they keep Carmelo out of spite, knowing full well he won't sign the extension, then it could wind up being a blunder far worse than the Cavaliers' blind faith in LeBron James.

well they'll be coaching against each other tomorrow so they will def talk.. idk whats going to happen but im pretty confident we get him regardless.. & i dont think melo will be spiteful if we dont get him by the deadline and in turn not come in free agency.. that would be the biggest case of "cutting off your nose to spite your face" that i will have ever witnessed.. he didnt go through all of this to just turn away now.. none of it make sense.. he knows its all about legacy, he wont throw tis opportunity away when hes so close

I think if Denver was serious about doing a deal with the Knicks, we'd have known by now.

We are the only horse in the race RIGHT NOW but I suspect that they really think that Melo will lose his resolve at the last minute and go to the Nets or sign with Denver. And last I checked, I felt he was losing resolve.

A lot of people said it was a huge mistake for Denver to hire an inexperienced GM, surround his with an inexperienced owner and no experienced people. It's absolutely bearing out right now. Denver doesn't know what the hell it's doing and it's alienating other front offices around the league. If Melo thinks he was handed to the Knicks and the Knicks failed to act, he is a moron. The Knicks want to make a deal, but there is no negotiation. The Nuggets want the moon one day and then a different set of goals the next day. I bet Walsh is really frustrated. He wants to do his job but Denver isn't playing ball, he has a moronic owner breathing down his neck and shock jocks like SAS calling for his head. It sucks to be Walsh right now because he is the only sane one in this moronic circle. -JItpal

I really do not see anyway Melo stays a Nugget though after all this. So what happens if he's not traded at the deadline?

He'll commit to us in the offseason, then we'll work out a sign and trade with Denver, Carmelo gets some dough back and Denver gets pennys compared to what they are asking for.

I suggest for everyone to turn the channel and tune back in on Wednesday, February 23. Why sit through hours and hours of Spanish soap-operas, when the only reason you tuned in was to watch the booty on Telemundo.

We played some great basketball last night. Great team effort. Anyone else think that the players were told that a huge Melo trade is unlikely?

The love Melo would receive from The Garden faithful if he did decide to come as a free agent, would be on another level.
One can dream I guess.

It's hard to know what to believe at this point, but the truth is always stranger than fiction. This will be an interesting next few days.
